It really is. Surprisingly, this isn't the first time that people have committed suicide because of what people do to hurt others.

I just wanted to show that bullying in general is wrong. The purple is for the kids who were gay but even one of the kids that are in on my shirt wasn't gay. He was straight but was being called "gay" and "faggot" led him to his death.

Thats sad, it shouldn't have gotten that bad, people should have thought before they did something, something that makes people feel liek their worthless, and that theres nothing to live for.

I hope my school isn't special because here if you have an issue wih homosexuality then you're the weird one. I just think it's sad this crap even happens. People are so stupid- what makes people think tormenting someone is ok?

I have no idea what runs through these peoples heads when they bully someone. I think that it's a mixture of some kind of past abuse or issues that could have brought them to such an attitude towards judging someone. All I know is that hate and prejudice is something learned, not something natural. Love is also something learn. So I think we just need to teach others what love is. No matter what shape or form it comes in. 
Also your school sounds pretty different then mine. Mine is pretty tolerant of me being gay but we got quite of few students who have their prejudices against "my kind."

My friend, Adriana Hues, killed herself last year on her birthday. She was lesbian, and all the other girls made fun of her for being herself. I am BI, and I get bullied. But not nearly as bad as Adriana did. I am truly going to miss her, for she was the sweetest girl you could ever meet. RIP to everyone who committed suicide, and I hope you guys dine on delicious cake without even gaining a pound!

It is sad that such things happen, Im not sure what made the bullys single each of these people out... there are many MANY gay people I know who function in society and seem just as everyone else. Gay people, both men and women, are no different than anyone else. If that idea hasnt caught on to individuals yet, they need to grow up and stop living in the past.
I read some of the comments and I believe there isn't alot to say that has not been said.

I had never heard those names before, I'm not from the USA. But when I googled them the things I read made me tear up. It's so sad that all those young people preferred death to life. Such stories shouls make us aware of the real situation about LGBT rights. I'm sad to say that here in my own country bullying because of one being gay is not something uncommon. A year ago a 19-year-old boy was beaten to death just because he looked gay to some group of teenagers. I am ashamed of this and I support everybody who have the courage to step out and say what needs to be said - those are people who deserve respect and a normal life no matter what their sexual orientation or as a matter of fact religion, skin color and so on.
