Description
Ofc when I actually decide to do a comic I get swamped with school, leaving me unable to finish it -_- I WAS planning on putting everything into this entry (coloring, shading, black and white colors during the storm) since I adore fornlees and this one's colors scheme is exactly what I had in mind for my own future fornlee, but preparation for finals and sudden homework had other plans. Thankfully I have only one more year of useless class nonsense to suffer through, then maybe I can put hours and hours into the work I actually enjoy doing.Anyway, enough saltiness. Here's my little story for this kit!
It was the first day of winter, and Kit woke up to another snowy day. The only thing that made this day different, really, was that the season had passed from fall to winter; it always snowed where Kit lived.
Upon gearing up in her scarf and prancing outside, Kit made her daily plea to build a snowlee with her brother, but, as usual, she was met with humiliation and a strict "No, you'll mess it up!" Today, however, she became sick of her brother's arrogance, and burst off into the nearby forest in an explosion of tears. Hours passed as kit wandered further and further into the woods, and the sky got darker and darker. She eventually plopped down with a huff into the snow, and began to make her own snowlee.
I don't need my dumb brother to have fun in the snow anyway, she thought, angrily patting snow between her paws.
After her tears dried and she had adorned her creation with her scarf, though, a wind began to pick up and Kit looked skyward; the sun had been blocked out by snow clouds, and Kit began to panic. She knew that a storm was brewing, and started off in the direction she thought she had come from...
Kit could barely hear her own calls for help, the wind was blowing so hard. Her vision was a field of pure white, the sky and ground had become indistinguishable except for the swaying trees sticking out from the expanse of nothingness. Each tree she passed looked exactly like the last, a black bar rising unsympathetically into the haze. Kit could no longer feel her ears and limbs, and wished longingly that she had taken her scarf back from the snowlee. After several more minutes of relentless shivering and cries that grew ever quieter, she eventually slumped into the snow, beginning to lose hope for her life. She began wistfully remembering things... drinking hot cocoa with her brother on a holiday morning, having snowball fights with her family... Tears rolled down her freezing cheeks, forming small icicles by the time they had reached her chin.
Suddenly, she was snapped into consciousness as something hit her face-on. Confused, Kit held out the item. She instantly recognized it as the jacket that her brother had used on his snowlee that morning! It must have been blown around from the gusts. Hurriedly putting the coat on, Kit began to regain her spirits. Warmth began to flow through her once more, and she got back up to continue her search through the storm. Although, now the snow seemed to have let up, and Kit could finally tell where the treetops ended.
After another hour of trudging through the thick snow and calling at the top of her lungs, Kit thought she heard something. Listening closely with her oversized ears, she recognized her brother's voice at the very edge of her listening range. With a burst of speed, Kit raced off in that direction. Every couple of seconds, the call got louder and louder, and joy pulsed through Kit. He finally appeared in her view, and she barreled towards him at her highest velocity. Never in her life had she run so fast, not even when Queen Pisum had accidentally dropped her bag of goodies during Hallowbean one year and Kit had had to race a group of bagbeans to the loot.
Kit nearly knocked her brother over when she finally leaped up in an embrace, and the two stood there for a good minute, consoling each other and displaying their relief.
And upon arriving home, the wind had subsided, the snow falling gently, Kit and her brother joyfully built a snowlee. Together.
