Description
HUFFPUFF
hello hi yes I'm still alive and I didn't get my drawing hand chopped off or anything so calm your beehole
Look at this flippy floppy otter! It's animated in ridiculous 24 fps, and is about 280 frames long. Most of it is frame-by-frame, but parts of the walk and run is cycled a couple of times. PHEW without doubt, the run/walk-cycle I'm the most proud of so far. Animating the transitions between the paces was really interesting as well, I learned a lot. And I'm so happy about the actual run I think I got the floppiness more or less like I wanted it! AND I finally got to fill that hole in gallery that said "actual otter animation".
This is one of uhm.. six.. overlapping projects I've been working on for uni the last month. It's the first project I've finished properly and that I'm actually proud of. It's just we have been absolutely overloaded with stuff to do this semester.. We have been given at least two new assignments each week for the past two months or so, and that really isn't enough time to make any good quality animations (I think). So to finish this assignment ("quadruped walk+run cycle"), we got set aside two workshop-days at uni, but we had six weeks total to finish it in our sparetime along with two other assignments as big as this thing. On top of that we have another seperate module that doubles the amount of work that needed to be done.
So basically I'm really behind now.. All of this rushing makes my work really half-assed and I think everything looks simply horrible, which is really demotivating, and really doesn't help productivity further... So this is basically why I haven't uploaded any work here.
Anyways the pace is supposed to slow down forward until christmas, so hopefully I'll get to properly finish some work. Maybe I'll have time to do some personal work?? (I think I remember what doing personal work was like ._. )
I made a blog for this project, where you can see some more WIP's and read a bit more about the process, and the other two projects from this module: advancedanimationbysonja.blogs…
Also I now and then upload sketches, VIP's and small work to my tumblr, so do check out that as well: www.tumblr.com/blog/panimated

I think the tip of the tail is a bit twitchy in the walking part, but I'm a nitpick
It's very smooth and loops nicely. Otters look strange without ears, though

haha yeah, there are always things I want to change I found i hard to avoid the twitchiness on 24 fps, trust me it was even worse before I cleaned it up ._. I'll just have to be more careful next time I animate at this framerate
And thank you very much! I know, they kind of look like seals without ears.. If I'm colouring it later I'll add them xD

I just saw your Ace gallop-animation and was about to comment- holy pops it's so.. clean.. and precise.. I don't know how you do it! I've seen you animation tests on tumblr as well, it's so inspirinnng, makes me want to work on something personal myself ;w;

Yay, it's probably because I took my inspiration from an otter and it's natural, infinite cuteability!
