Alternative line: "Look at how nice this shell looks"
Lame joke is.... LAAAAAMEEEEEE xD
Who writes these lines???
Anyways here's another character concept/experimentation/practice drawing. This one I'm not very proud of, neither in lineart nor coloring. I was originally aiming at making some sort of anime-styled version of someone I actually know but weeeeeelllll, I think the porting from real life into anime-style rarely goes well hahaha, specially if it's a first try. She looks nothing like her real counterpart. She doesn't even looked anime-styled! It's more like, a western styled character. So I'm going to try again at a later date. There were a couple more drawings of different angles like in the previous drawings but I was having a lot of problems trying to get them to be consistent with the main drawing here. At some point I got frustrated, took a break and when I went back at it I told myself to just be done with it, scan it and try coloring it.
I've been practicing a few things here in the coloring to see what results I could get by reducing the color palette and just use the same color but in different modes to get shadows and lightning. Results are not too bad but I think I should expand my color palette for better results. That or double the shadow layers to increase contrast. I also should add maybe one or two more layers for extra lightning effects. In this picture I tried using dodge layer more to get better lightning results but I think I still need to practice that to get good results.
Overall I think the poor lineart (Hips too small/shoulders too wide), somewhat lacklusting pose and the inability to actually get the drawing I was aiming for demoviated me to put too much effort in this. I think the only damn thing I like about this picture is the damn HEAT shell. But well, we're practicing here. That's all. Whatever works we will keep in the future and whatever doesn't we'll just have to keep trying until it does or just move on from it. Sometimes a certain project just does not pan out. Better to finish it ASAP and move on to something else. Tomorrow we start a new week, and a new drawing. Key here is to continue practicing. Remember that any constructive criticism is welcome. If you want to add anything please do let me know, I will make my best to try to apply that in the near future.
Anyways, despite the lacking quality of this I hope you guys like it. haha.
See'ya on the Battlefield!
