Just a thing I doodled up one afternoon before my shift. The "you know you shouldn't go through here" face doesn't always work and people with too many items come in anyway. I can't exactly make them leave once they're there, so I have to do my best to catch peoples' gazes before they turn in and hope they understand they don't belong in this lane and go somewhere else.It's not meant to make anyone feel bad, but uh, protip for shopping at the supermarket: the express lane is for people who don't have a lot of items to buy so they can get out of the store more quickly. It doesn't mean I'm faster than any other cashier, it means I'm there to take care of people with a certain number of items. If you come in with an overflowing cart, you pretty much destroy the purpose of the express lane, and the people who come in to wait behind you with only two items officially hate you and me.

16 or 17 items = maybe. But maybe flavored with side eye. Like this better be a miscount. I understand how you can overlook the Chapstick you grabbed at impulse. But general rule, if it doesn't fit into a basket due to sheer quantity, not express.

I often have people come in who think if they have multiples of the same item, it counts as one. And I have to be like "Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhh no sorry just because every item you bought was 10 for 10 does not mean that one of each represents the whole. You have sixty goddamn things in your cart. Get outta here.
