That statement made no sense lol I'm not really in it for the followers, more the convenience of being on my phone and all. But as far as effort, I don't use it much and have almost 400 followers so...

I see what you mean. Yeah they are more convenient for sharing. I have facebook and twitter where I just browse memes lol. I post all of my art stuff only here as a personal diary and I don't really need two of it. But for other artists Instagram is definitely a better way to share and view this kind of stuff.
