Description
These twin Amur tiger cubs are now about 11 weeks old and this is the first day their mother let them out of the den. We haven't been to the Milwaukee County Zoo for quite awhile so we feel extremely lucky to happen upon this event in progress.
The mother is notoriously "shy" and she would only let the cubs out for brief forays before insisting on their return to the den. They were not allowed anywhere except the very rear of their habitat... certainly not up by the crowd of human onlookers at the window. Several seventh grade girls were advising the cubs not to pay attention to their mother... but this tigress has some strict rules at this point. We hope to get back in a week or so and get some shots of the cubs frolicking out in the light near the window.
