Nike never thought she'd ever find love. Well, romantic love, at least, the friendship part she had it covered. But love-love? The kind that makes your heart beat like a fluttering bird, or fill your stomach with butterflies? The kind that makes you feel all hot and light on your feet? The kind that makes you feel as if wings will sprout from your back and carry you higher than the tallest peak?

She never thought she'd find it. And so, she never even looked for it.

But perhaps, that was the trick.

Love found her in the most unexpected way. Love was found in Venna's face, her laughter, her heart, a heart which was bigger and warmer than even the raven-pelted femme was aware of. A simple encounter brought them together, and a promise made with tender care bound them.

In Venna she found a home. In Venna that she found a safe place, a warm haven, a friend and a companion, one that would walk beside her through the ends of time. One that Nike would cradle close and kiss with all the love she could muster, and even then it would not be enough.

To Nike, Venna's love is like a warm sunny day, like wildflowers blooming, like honeybees dancing around her. These and much more, words she cannot even begin to fathom. Venna is love. She did, and now she can't imagine her life without it.

It's not all roses, of course. There are always hardships, hurdles to overcome. Some more recent than others... But Nike has faith in herself, in Venna, in them. There is nothing in this world that could tear them apart, no eclipse to darken their love.

Nike loves Venna. It is as simple as that.

THE MOON

Love was a scarce thing in Venna's life and she always believed that was how it would always be. She was brash and impulsive, she was loud and aggressive. She pushed others away and never expected them to see beyond her harsh exterior. In her mind, there wasn't someone out there that could love her. And she'd convinced herself she was okay with that... Until Nike came into her life and struck light upon the darkest corners of her mind, somehow seeing the beauty and the warmth in her soul -- which even she, herself, had believed to be frozen and cold.

Nike is the sun; golden and warm. She's bright and lively and everything that Venna is not. But... She's been teaching Venna how to understand that she doesn't have to hide her own light. She's teaching Venna how to do better at projecting her light instead of only showing the world a dark, shadowed face.

Though, with that comes it's own challenges wherein Venna worries that she's asking too much of Nike. That she shouldn't be using love as a learning curve. But maybe she's only used to being hard on herself. It's all she's ever known. But perhaps now, she can work towards shining without shame.

THE ECLIPSE
If Nike is the sun - warm, golden, bright - and Venna the moon - cold, silver, distant - then, they are two sides of the same coin. Different, opposite, but somehow they mesh together like ti was made to be. Maybe they don't quite realize it and maybe Venna's insecurities run too deep still, but the moon is a reflective face for the sun's light. Reflecting her light upon the world at night so there is never true darkness.

But Venna still worries - sometimes - about getting too close. If the Moon eclipses the Sun, then there will be darkness... And she doesn't want to snuff out Nike's light. She doesn't want to get in the way.
