Description
This is for my 5 year old son. I shouldn't have shown him the picture 'cause he got on my case about this for 2 weeks. I finally obliged. Now my other son is asking for a regular green koopa troopa. Aaah, a parent's work is never done. He's a fun little thing. Far from a perfect model as the design has some flaws but that shouldn't stop anyone from building it.
I used the PDO file from nintendopapercraft.com [link] Click the Mario button on the right side of the screen. I recommend using the PDO so you can see how it's constructed.

You did one of my favorite playable characters It looks like it would've taken awhile to construct with how good it looks! If I were 5 again, I would've asked you to make me one too

Who wouldn't love a Koopa, right? Truth is, he didn't really need to do a lot of convincing. I just had to find the time to do it.
As for how long it took to make, I approximate about 6 hours total, maybe 7 split into two days.
Many thanks for the props. I love your MS Paint one. I am totally untalented in that area.

Yep, I don't know anyone yet who hates koopas ^^ I can see why yours turned out so great now because you invested a lot of time into it. Thanks for nice comment on mine btw. I'll have to try paper crafting sometime

Haha. Thanks. The camera hides a multitude of sins. But seriously, I think it turned out great. I still don't know how I was able to make it stand for it's photo op.
I did adjust the transparency of the lines on the PDO so it wouldn't show up too much. It's still there if you look close enough, don't think I could do this one completely lineless.
I also had to get a bit creative on attaching those wings. And, is it just me or does the head really doesn't stick flush to the shell? Oh, but that shell is all kinds of awesome. I almost didn't want to put the other parts on it.

Yeah, the head was pretty weird.. It doesn't attatch to the shell perfectly. I didn't bother making the wings or the racket(sp?) because I was too lazy.. And the wings look hard. lol
I also relocated the legs because I didn't want it to look up. Still, I had lots of fun making it. and yes, the shell does look awesome. xD
Are you going to make a green one?

Will probably do a green one without wings. Equal opportunity parenting and all that.
Nah, the wings were not hard at all, just had a lot fold lines. My son did the racket by himself but decided that HIS Koopa looks better without it.

Hahaha. I think my kids will probably disagree with that. But I'm not all that bad and I do love me some Nintendo papercraft.

Did you try getting her into it? I mean, your artistic talent definitely came from someone.
She might not like Nintendo papercrafts but if you show her something like the Japanese bush warbler or those pretty flower bouquets at the Canon site, she might just get interested.
Think of the benefits. She'd be buying card stock and glue and ink.
Give her a chance. We moms can be pretty cool sometimes. And one of the coolest things is sharing a hobby with your kids.

Well.. Not really. I figured she wouldn't have enough time to do them, since she's always either working or cleaning around the house. I'm sorry for her.. :/
But you do have a point.. Hmm.. I always run out of materials. xD I dunno, I'll think about it.

You never know, Chart. Everyone needs a hobby.
Think INK, Chart. Think INK. But, then again:
ChartodileMOM: Chartodileon! You used up ALL the INK again. I was going to use it for MY papercraft!

Okay, I'll see if I can convince her.

Wow - amazing. It looks like a low-poly model from the good old days of Mario Party 1 and similar games... ah, I wish the game industry wasn't so concerned with realism nowadays. 'd!
