Description SO! You guys may be a little confused. I guess for this to make sense, I need to explain the physiology of the Naveno region. Naveno is located Southwest of the Unova region. Anville Town in Unova has a train system that has trains that go back and forth from Unova to Naveno. Because of the regions being relatively close to one another, Naveno shares a lot of Pokemon with the Unova region. 3 of which are the Kami trio of Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus. Crops, y'all. Agriculture is important to Kentucky, and why make up my own fakes for that when there's literally a trio of them already made? I use real Pokemon to connect with the main series, not because I'm lazy!!! >>

Soldorus
The Guiding Light Pokemon
Fire/Flying Type
Dex: Soldorus is said to be the mother to the Kami trio. When her children started causing chaos among the Naveno region, she fled to a cave in shame of her acts. The disappearance of Soldorus created an eternal darkness in the region, so the Native Navenians lured her out using a mirror. When Soldorus looked upon this mirror, she took on another forme. She then realized that she could use this mirror to prevent her children from doing any more harm, by transforming each of them into beasts. The embarrassment her children felt caused them to flee to a nearby region, and Soldorus kept the mirror in case a problem ever arose again.

Heads up, the dex description was long. Soldorus's tale is actually based on Shinto mythology, Amaterasu specifically. I felt that the Kami trio was incredibly fitting for the Naveno region, especially with Unova being so close. But don't for a second think that I wasn't going to take advantage of this and create a totally awesome fake for Unova as well. And it works out great because, while I changed quite a bit, a lot of Soldorus's backstory matches up with Amaterasu's. 3 children, a very important mirror. And the fact that the Kami trio HAD the mirror already, it was just... it's fantastic. I love Soldorus's design and backstory, and to be quite frank, she's probably my favorite legendary in all of Naveno.

I can't really say that I like this design since I've never been particulairly fond of PokΓ©mon that wear clothes. But what I like the least about it is the tail. It looks too, static, if you will. The others of the Kami Trio had tails that looked like they could move them around and actually use them to whack things, or whatever. I think it would've been fine if it just looked like a shinto gate sticking out of the cloud. But since it begins inside the cloud and ends outside the cloud, it just looks like a stiff and awkward tail.

That's my two cents, take it or leave it. But I suggest you take it, because it's two cents and you can probably get some junk at a second hand with that kind of money.

It's a solid argument and I appreciate your feedback. And y'know, I probably could stick the end piece back in the cloud and it'd look fine, but I imagine the tail being a bit more flexible than it seems, with the "bars" going horizontally being able to bend fairly well too. Still, I can see where you're coming from.

And yeah, two cents could buy me two rides on the mechanical penny horse, and that's at least 10 minutes of sheer bliss, so I think I'll take ya' up on those two pennies.

You know, as a foreigner to America, all the filtered informations that I get to hear about Kentucky are about the fried chicken. xD
It's a stereotype that comes along with many others, like perhaps Italy may be just all about pizza and spaghetti with meatballs.
But with this Fakemon region of yours and all this backstory, mythology and 'mons inspired to Kentucky's flora and fauna, I'm learning a lot more interesting things!

And the connection of these legendaries with other trios is really spot on, a great work!
Soldorus is really nice-looking and I really dig her backstory.

HAH! That's pretty hilarious, honestly. You know the KFCs in Japan (Kentucky Fried Chicken. It's a chain restaurant but I don't know where all they're located, so if you already know what I'm talking about, then I apologize for explaining xD), but yeah, in Japan, the KFCs are actually nicer than the ones in Kentucky? I mean, it's got Kentucky in the dang name, come on!

But seeing this really made me happy, man. Kentucky gets a lot of negative press for being behind, being a hillbilly state. Just, it's a shame. I understand why, but it really is a shame. There's a lot of beauty and culture here that makes it stand up against all of the negatives thrown at it. Massive cave systems, gorgeous small towns, rolling green hills, and Kentucky in the fall is probably one of my favorite things. The fact that my region was able to actually give off the emotions that I have for the state and allow others to sympathize with that is really incredible. Like, I really don't have words to express how I feel. I'm just really happy, man.

And thanks! I loved working on Soldorus, she was a really fun Legendary to make!

And I'll have you know, I've actually attempted (and might try again sometime) making an Italian region before. When I think Italy, I think wines and vineyards, pastas, romantic getaways, ancient Greek artifacts and ruins, and of course the incredibly beautiful city of Venice, with the Grand Canal going through the city filled with Gondoliers.Β  Like, all the cheesy, romanticized stuff is what I think of when I think Italy. Like, you guys have people think of all that neat stuff when you tell them you're from Italy, but I say I'm from Kentucky and all people think of is fried chicken. xD

Well, I think your attempt in spreading knowledge about Kentucky really succeeded, at least for me.
I noticed that there's not a great exchange of informations between the continents of America and Europe.Β
While talking to many American people here on DA, I realized that most of our knowledge about other countries is based on stereotypes. You won't believe it, but you're an exception! You said all those nice things about Italy, but in reality I met a lot of people that, when they think of Italy, they just yell "Pizza! Mamma mia! Mafia!"
Some others didn't even know that pizza originated in Italy. They thought it was an American thing. XD
So some things shouldn't be taken for granted and we should always show the best we can offer them. You did a great job in exaulting the good things about Kentucky, even through PokΓ©mon.
I admitted my ignorance about Kentucky, but I'm so happy to have learned many things about it! It looks like a very nice place to live in.

I'm flattered about your thought of creating a region based off Italy. I'm sure it'd be nice, since Italy's culture varies a lot depending on the region you're in, and there's a lot of symbolism and icons that vary with the territory.
I was thinking of doing something Italy-related too, as a side project to my actual fake region.
And your work on your region really inspired me!

I'm really glad to hear that, man.

Yeah, there's a disconnect between the states and foreign countries. We learn things, but nobody is ever really encouraged to learn more about the other countries of the world. Most of our classes focus on American history specifically in the public education schools. And beyond that there's a mad case of xenophobia here, with everyone flipping out about anyone who lives outside of the US because "they aren't American" or something stupid like that. All in all it just leads to a lot of ignorance on our part for not knowing a thing about the rest of the world. People need to acknowledge that there are other people out there, the world doesn't revolve because of the states, haha

That being said, it kinda stinks that that's all people think of whenever they think about Italy. I did my research back when planning to do my Italian region, but I already knew about a lot of the stuff I'd mentioned beforehand. Italy is just a really cool place, I'd like to visit some day.

I'm glad to have given Kentucky a good name. Even in the US it's looked at as a boring, hick-town state. It's never really acknowledged for it's good qualities, but mostly for stereotypes of hillbillies and farmers and fried chicken, and that's all we get. x.x Kentucky may not have a bunch of super fun stuff to do in it, but it's beautiful, and that's something I can back up. When the seasons change, they change. I especially love fall and Winter, because they're so drastically different from the other two seasons.

I loved working on the Italian region. I actually used Roman versions of Greek mythology, with a story inspired slightly by the Renaissance. A power struggle with three legendary Pokemon watching over a specific aspect of society. One watched over the arts, and gave people inspiration to make sure the arts lived on. Another watched over technology, providing limitations whenever the technology advances too far. The last one watched over the governing powers, and if they planned to dominate the world or gain incredibly too much power, would plunge the region into absolute anarchy; however, it also provided the failing regions with structure for their government.

Wow, you got a really nice concept there, for the Italy inspired region.
The idea of the three legendaries and what they do is really nice, very philosofical.
I was thinking more on a region with two main legendaries that represented a spiritual way of living versus a practical and concrete way of living, represented by a legendary which could have maybe been the symbol of technology and development in general. It had to focus on the duality I've been living here, having to deal with the power of the clergy that makes Italy stick to its old roots, as opposed to the constant development in technology we keep on working on, moving further.

The best thing about Italy are its different environments. Depending on where you are, the lanscapes keep changing. I live next to the mountains and the weather can get really cold, but there are also places in which winter is rather warm and there are beautiful seas.
And let's not talk about food, because we wouldn't be able to find enough time to discuss it widely. Food here is almost like a religion, and there are so many different dishes that it would take you years to try half of the things you can find here. Saying that Italian people eat just pizza is like saying that Japanese people only eat sushi (or that people in Kentucky only eat fried chicken lol).

Btw keep doing what you're doing, because it's a really good job.

Honestly, if you ever got to the point to work on this Italian region, I would love to collaborate with you on it if given the opportunity. I designed a pretty hefty amount of old fakes for it and had some pretty solid progress before eventually ditching the project to move on to other things. But the best Fakemon regions are always the most passionate ones. I had a blast making Naveno after my home-state, Kentucky. I think it would be fantastic to work on an Italian region with somebody who lives in Italy and is just as passionate about it as I am my home-state. The best regions spawn from passion, I believe.

Man, I really wanna visit Italy one day, though. It's one of my top countries I'd like to visit in my lifetime, along with others like Germany and Japan. And my main reason to travel totally isn't for the sake of trying all sorts of food. >> Haha, but seriously, Italy is someplace I'd like to go.

But yeah man! I definitely plan on it! I've still got a pretty hefty amount of work to do on Naveno, believe it or not. Keep an eye out!

Oh, that would be really nice. It wouldn't be any time soon though, I want to concentrate my attention on my region right now, as you need to finish up Naveno.
But that'd be really fun! X)

I've been to Germany a few times, it's a really nice place. Meat-based dishes are wonderfully good, there.
If you come to Italy you're surely going to gain some weight! XD
But apart from that, they're both two really gorgeous countries.
I'd really like to go to Japan too, seems like a fun place to be in.
A thing I like to do is writing random addresses on Google Street View and sit back and watch the cities like I was there. It's the best method to fast-travel to really far away places and get the idea of how they look like.

Curious to see what else you have to show about your region.
