I remember last year we went to comic market in Japan, and I left thinking "gosh it would be really neat to have one of these tables." So when suggested a table at a small event I was like "okay, neat, this is a good place to start. There will be lots of gamers here and that's what I like to draw."Then it dawned on me I have no mainstream art from the last... ever?
I tried to draw Fire Emblem. That ended badly. Human action poses and elegantly designed characters are out of my league. What, then, on earth would I draw? @_@ It's not like I'm bad at everything... if someone in Japan was happy to see my fan art, there had to be something... besides DDR. I thought about it and I had to think about what I like drawing in general: jokes, ships, and underrated characters. My comic writing is a little uh... well, I can't come up with anything under pressure, and the event is the second week of August. But I like shipping. I wub shipping. And I wub the inkling boy that picano thinks is weird.
And gasp, Splatoon... cute characters with big eyes and colorful designs... I can actually do this ahhhhhhhSo this happened because I had to do something mainstream but I honestly think these two are adorable.
I was cursing the bg on and on and on while doing this... rather, my complete lack of bg until picano said "do buildings." Yes uh... there was a lot of complaining... I tried drawing buildings, they looked just eye bleedingly awful, and then I resorted to Blender to just make some. He also suggested referencing Moray Towers where they could be on top of something so I based it off of that, I guess. just... ignore the fact that the fence links are going the wrong way... maybe they broke the first one. ;>_>

Yeah, about this time last year, or mid-August, my husband and I wanted to go once before we forgot all our Japanese among other stuff. I demanded that weekend in August for Comic Market. There were probalby more people at that location than in Omaha and it was awesome.
In particular, I wanted one day to see my favorite doujin artist 'cause he draws DDR stuff. I brought some of my own art hoping somebody would notice but (maybe because he's the only person I talked to) he was the only person to notice the characters. :'D I think he asked if I sold them but it was kind of a blur and picano understood more than I did.

The building perspective is all Blender. But it's a good thing picano kicked my butt into using it. xD;

I feel that Nintendo started to suck when both the 3DS and Wii U came out. Over time, Nintendo gets worse and worse. I don't like how Nintendo is losing 3rd parties most recently. Most of the handheld titles head to PlayStation Vita while the console titles have cross-gen releases without Wii U versions. The Wii U is strong enough to handle these games, as if it's double the power of an Xbox 360. Nintendo no longer gets games like Destiny, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare & Black Ops III, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, DOA5 Last Round, Mortal Kombat X, Dynasty Warriors 8, NBAs 2K14/15/16 and such.
I got a feeling that Nintendo would discontinue the Wii U and 3DS, stop making gaming platforms, and become a 3rd party company. Therefore, upcoming games lilke the new Legend of Zelda, Star Fox Zero, Mario Tennis 4 and others would move development to PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One. I wish this happens; you think? Think of what SEGA had done when they lost all 3rd party support on the Dreamcast.

Ohh egh... not gonna lie, it's difficult to read a post that starts with "Nintendo started to suck."
I've personally been having loads of fun with single player 3DS and multiplayer Wii U stuff. That's part because I could hardly care less about 3rd party games save maybe Sonic who went on its own weird course the past decade or so. Everything you mentioned... maybe I'd like Dynasty Warriors? I think people who play Nintendo stick with it because they love the 1st-party stuff. Saying the Wii U is poor because it doesn't have third party games is like saying apple pie is poor because it doesn't have strawberries in it. Well yeah, it doesn't have any... but who's buying apple pie for strawberries?
I didn't follow Sega all that well, but I think the fact that they dropped out of the console wars a long time ago helped Nintendo enough to keep them in the game as the kid-friendly innovator of console gaming. Sony and Microsoft are always trying to outdo each other by copying each other.

Just keep in mind that Nintendo had proper 3rd party support before the Wii U. Nintendo 64 had Tony Hawk, with Pro Skater 3 being the final game for the system. Nintendo Gamecube had Madden NFL, with '08 being the final game for the system. The Wii continues to get 3rd party support, but way less than PS2 during the PS3 era. Universal Interactive (Skyslanders), Ubi Soft (Just Dance), and Electronic Arts (FIFA Soccer) are the only companies supporting it. Back then, it had awesome 3rd party support, especially with Call of Duty from 3 to MW3, skipping MW2.
Since no more 3rd party companies are ever going to support Nintendo's platforms, now's the time to become 3rd party and end platform production. Satoru Iwata's gone, and Nintendo has to take a destined path without him.
