My fix for the Snow Leopard 'charging battery' icon issue.To apply, simply navigate to:
System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/
then, Show Package Contents of Battery.menu
/Contents/Resources/
Replace the files named glyphCharged.pdf and glyphCharging.pdf with unzipped files.
Restart computer and voila! No more ugly lightning bolt and plug!

Thanks for doing this. How do I get my battery to be all black when it is fully charged? Right now it is clear in the middle.

Interesting...My MSI Wind with Snow Leopard doesnt have this issue.

This is actually a fix for a menubar icon theme created by iAndrew [link] that was featured on MacThemes. His theme for the battery icon displayed properly in Leopard, but reverted back to the lightning bolt and plug icons (when charging) in Snow Leopard. A lot of people hated the way it looked so I simply came up with a fix for it.
