Description
The inspiration for this picture came from a series of mysterious events that occurred on a long, dark road near my hometown during the 80s. At the time, many ghost sightings were reported in the area, and they were usually connected with fatal traffic accidents that happened there during the previous decade. The most popular one was about the ghosts of a young married couple who died in a car crash. However, in my research I couldn't find any information about such an accident. But at least one bizarre accident really happened. And it happened just at the place where the road crosses over a lake.

About 40 years ago there stood a wooden bridge that could withstand a load of 5 tons. During one stormy and rainy night, a large 20-ton truck was moving along the road. Due to bad weather conditions the truck drivers didn't notice a sign indicating the maximum weight of vehicles that could move across the bridge. From the moment the truck passed the sign the tragedy was inevitable. Completely unaware of danger, they managed to get to the middle of the bridge. Then the bridge collapsed and the truck sank down to the muddy bottom of the cold, dark lake, along with the drivers and the cargo. One of the drivers managed to swim out. Sadly, the other one didn't. Few days later a huge truck crane tried to pull the truck out of the lake. Since it failed in several attempts, a decision was made to leave the truck and incorporate it in the foundations of the new, concrete bridge.

However, the truck is still there as a part of the new bridge, but talking about ghosts...well, there were several really convincing stories, while some others sound more like urban legends. Personally, I like to believe that there is (or at least was) something unknown out there.
