Actually, I did nothing special at all.
Aside from watching some tutorial videos to get me started...
I set a limit for myself in terms of resolution and took sprites ripped from games as reference.
I also took an Octoling image and reduced it to the low resolution, to get the proportions right.
And then I made a sprite, using said compressed image as a base.
As for the animation, well all I did was moving parts of the sprite a couple pixels, frame by frame.
I didn't have to redraw any part.
Just moved them a little and maybe adjusted a few pixels here and there and I was done.
Oh yes, layers are as powerful as ever!
