Need to post something! So, have what I imagine to be the guardian of YouTube, cheerfully waving hello. I think her name should be "Buffy" because of all the friggin' buffering I have to put up with on my rubbish 4Mbps broadband
Wonder what she uses the antennae for? Perhaps it's a virtual representation of the way she can quickly interface with YouTube's backend servers. Which she needs to do, due to how much crap she has to manage during daily site operations.
Often fun to be around but also temperamental, Buffy would be just as likely to love your video as scrub it from YouTube's servers for a copyright or ToS violation. She also recently gave the servers a nasty habit of changing the stream quality on you at random. Even though it's really annoying, she's adamant it's an improvement...
Mostly happy with this design, I think! May do some tweaking later on. Transparency may look a little weird on DA because the YouTube logo is designed to be backdropped by white, not green... if it looks too crappy I'll just add a white backdrop to the image or something

It's bad, really. Blocking ads will increase advertising as companies need to put up more to cover costs. Certainly one reason why we have in-video ads now.
I would be happy (on fast unlimited broadband) with an ad-blocking system which still downloaded the ads but just hid them from view... would support our favourite websites without damaging our sanity! But then, the companies in the ads lose out I know most won't have much sympathy for them, but it's hardly fair is it?
Oh well... until then my YouTube is nice and clean and relatively ad-free!

Since all this stuff comes to us for free, and sidebar ads aren't nearly as bad as in-video ones, I really never cared that much. It's only when you try to view a site like watchcartoonsonline.com that ads get way out of hand.

aaah I see an ad everytime i click on a video ;u; it's so annoying
sometimes you can skip it after 5 seconds, but often, you can't....

You think 4Mbps is crappy? Yeesh! My internet sucks, like 600kbps at best. Maybe 800 or so on a good day.
When I try to watch a youtube video, you load the page and leave it for an hour and you might be done, or it chose to quit halfway through. Anyway, awesome pony! Are Google, Wikipedia or Deviantart going to get one? Maybe one for fimfiction even?

Plenty of websites will get an avatar eventually... I was thinking Soundcloud and Beatport sooner rather than later, but yeah, not any particular order to this process, it'll just be what, when and where a concept forms enough to become an workable design! Inspiration hits at the oddest moments

This is too CUTE! I would think she loves to change things up, as Youtube's seems to change up their UI quite a bit, very commercialized/captialistic due to ads and ad revenue and is in cohorts with Google.

YouTube website has been on the list for a while... although how it would factor into the story at this stage I haven't quite decided. For the sake of the little head-canon I've got going on, Buffy exists in the story!
I'm trying to get the next instalment finished. It's partially time consuming and partially I'm just tired, slow and rubbish

Easier to use this on stuff if you leave the transparent background though. But I guess we could do that ourselves? I dunno if I can use paint to do that... Which is all I have XD

the styles a little busted now, YT seems to have altered its formatting some. adding some !important markers after the sizing seems to fix it for FireFox.

(might want to make a slight alteration to sizes, as YouTube's logo is 110px. height would be 77px using the current aspect-ratio)
