Is he guarding a nesting female? That wing posture is a threat/warning.

Could be - but I did not see one nearby, but there were reeds not too far off so it is possible there was a swan in the reeds. Althoug, it might have been a bit early in the season for nesting.

I've been keeping an eye on this pair nesting on the Kennet. [link]
I went past today, and she's still incubating, and he's still guarding. Hopefully I'll get some cygnet pics soon.

May is the time for cygnets, but I guess the early nesting might produce an early clutch or whatever the collective noun is....hope it does not get too cold.

Me too. We've had a frost or two since she laid them. Yep, it's a clutch of eggs.
