Well I only got 5 images from the roll of film as the others were completely overexposed - This is about the best I got - However I spoke to *museye and she gave me some hints - I have to buy some blue tape and seal up the back of the camera so that no light gets through and then I should get more shots

this is AMAZING!
Bravo!
it is so melancholic Blue Danube feel...
Love the composition...
A great surprise in going through my messages.
The precision of the bridge and the erriness of the rest creates alot of drama reflective of your style.
cant wait to see more
The holga fits you!

Thanks a lot Stef - You know that I decided to get the Holga because of your work - I love it - And now that I have one I appreciate your mastery in it. I think you're right about the Holga fitting me - There's a lot of layers in everybody and I'm certainly not too scared too discover them Just like you I'd venture to say

SLpImpressions In reply to ParallelDeviant [2011-01-29 00:18:39 +0000 UTC]

the holga found me!.
love how a light weight can afford one so much complexity in a single shot!
*
I am looking forward to seeing what you do...
Too-- not sure if the lab you use will understand your intentions.
I have to specify that all layers are intentional as at times they refused developing because they perceived them as errors!.
I have one roll that i haven't developed yet--its almost 6 months old
but that too is part of the gift of film...little unforeseen surprises that delight--(though at times can disappoint...)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ParallelDeviant In reply to SLpImpressions [2011-01-29 00:23:52 +0000 UTC]

Yes the lab developed it all right - However they almost threw it out - The girl was very surprised when I asked her to put it all on a DVD - She said there was nothing on it, however as I said, in the end we managed to get five of them.

SLpImpressions In reply to ParallelDeviant [2011-01-29 00:28:49 +0000 UTC]

These days--the average lab clerks have no clue about the potential of film.
I repeat myself constantly with them...and tell them --Please--develop all shots.
O--too-- you might want to emphasis no cuts--if you want to not follow the numeric coding. Thats when you advance the film with one click or two--(before the number shows up) and take a shot---
I sort of gave up on doing that because --they cant seem to scan more then two or three frames into their computer...
in anycase---
something to look forward to --the four more from this roll!...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ParallelDeviant In reply to SLpImpressions [2011-01-29 00:39:03 +0000 UTC]

Of the four I think that was the only interesting one - The others I reckon I can use for texture and stuff

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Greyguardian In reply to ParallelDeviant [2011-01-28 19:16:01 +0000 UTC]

yes, i have seen in the previous deviation doesn't feel really expensive - but what about the films and developing it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ParallelDeviant In reply to Greyguardian [2011-01-28 19:24:48 +0000 UTC]

That's the expensive part - Because the roll of film costs 2.5 euros and the developing 4 euros - So 6.5 euros for 5 images - I'll have to learn how to take more fotos beacuse they charge you they same price for either 5 photos or 36 images ...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Greyguardian In reply to ParallelDeviant [2011-01-28 23:24:26 +0000 UTC]

oh hell oh hell oh hell I was thinking about analog photography ( i have Zenit and minolta from my father) and then trying developing films myself.

It goes much cheaper once you have the needed things. Maybe you can also experiment with the holga films?

having family and work - I guess every free second is "on a weight of gold" as we say

ParallelDeviant In reply to Greyguardian [2011-01-29 00:29:13 +0000 UTC]

Yes - as it is, however I spend a lot of time on DA - nevertheless my wife and kids don't complain - My house is very big we have an attic where I have a drawing table and studio however I prefer to stay downstairs in the livingroom with the laptop and be with them while they're watching TV

Greyguardian In reply to ParallelDeviant [2011-01-29 23:20:48 +0000 UTC]

have you resigned from putting your drawings here? I remember you had some on your old account

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ParallelDeviant In reply to Greyguardian [2011-01-29 23:30:15 +0000 UTC]

Oh I can't get rid of my drawings - In fact you can see them in almost all the images here I use them for texture and lighting effects...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Greyguardian In reply to ParallelDeviant [2011-01-29 23:36:59 +0000 UTC]

it is great idea actually i have used a couple of my abstract-paintings works for the texture to some of my works too . they are too weak to put them just like that though

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ParallelDeviant In reply to Greyguardian [2011-01-29 23:47:23 +0000 UTC]

Yes I think it's a question of finding a balance between all the mediums in art - I'm still looking

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Greyguardian In reply to ParallelDeviant [2011-01-29 23:54:07 +0000 UTC]

isn't it that we look all the time? There is(was) an artist I really love - ZdzisΕ‚aw BeksiΕ„ski. First he was a drawer, then fantastic painter, great photographer... then he tried with the computer art and here his works, i must admit, - were shitty.

but hell - nevermind. I think it is always important to be looking around and observe carefuly.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ParallelDeviant In reply to Greyguardian [2011-01-29 23:58:01 +0000 UTC]

Definitely - In fact I'm just chatting to a guy at the moment and we're talking precisely about that - Artwork with a soul...

I usually do not like this kind of discussions - I am always about to argue with someone.

by the way : I have just discovered an artist that has impressed me and interesting page as well :[link]
