Great work, it looks awsome. Is this the old school way or using the new preset?

It's looking pretty good. The skin is especially nice. You should check out using the "Diffusion" shader ([link] ). I have just discovered it, but so far it has been very powerful and very fast to render.
Also, how meany polys are we looking at here?

Thanks for comment and link! Nice tutor, but is cheat. It not real SSS shader. This quickly rendered, but have a doubts that in real scene with many light he in a complicated way tunes in.
300K polys in head.
Sorry for my english.

Hey, don't worry about the English, I understand what you are saying. 3k is a pretty hefty poly count.
Also, since you are opposed to using the plug in I linked to above, there is a nice tutorial video on the Gnomon website for the Fast Simple Shader in Maya. It is the first tutorial on the page . It shows you the basics, yeilds nice results, and it's free.
The reason I mention these SSS techniques is because to me it seems he is too opaque in some areas, particularly the ears.
I have two more questions, if you dont mind my asking, and if you have the time to answer:
1. How much of the detail is actual geometry as opposed to texturing?
2. Have you considered normal mapping some of the high poly details on to a low-poly model to help reduce your poly count. Why/why not?
At any rate, you have made a beautiful model. I very much admire it and your skill as an artist.
