Description I did not spring from quiet nothingness.

A carved mountain face, immovable
   struck iron
               I am brimming with
               purpose and intent.

Let those who doubt be
      torn asunder
              ghosts eating their words.

I
 Us
       We
were made to be more than
                  an opinion
                  or limitations
                       of this
                       I am certain.

you say you don't like it, but there is so much more that can do into it. I like finding topics that just open themselves up this way.

I just hate when I don't get to devote the "right" amount of time to a poem; I feel like I posted this one before it was complete. But weekends are generally busy for me, so it's one of those things.

I try to have 2 or 3 going on all the time. today was an example. after yesterday and the day before, I was emotionally exhausted. I've picked it back up, however; and tomorrow will be heavy (and taken from the French). unless I don't finish it. then it will be green.  I do find, however, that taking inspiration from art on dA as it shows up is making this less exhausting than last year.

2 or 3 at a time? Wow! I don't think I've ever done that. I have to work on mine one at a time or I feel distracted with the conflicting imagery (or I'll just run wild with too much imagery)!

This is my first time doing NaPoWriMo and I can see why prompts may be useful!

I said last night (I was on my phone, so I was being brief, and may have just thought I sent it) that it's a matter of process. I have multiple workstations set up. Each is a different environment here at home. two are even portable so I can go elsewhere, maybe with a camera, for example.  I can set up more if I need.

So when I enter an environment, the sensory cues trigger a different set of thoughts and imagery.

and last year, I tried to write everything strictly from internal cues. I spent May exhausted. By using cues from other places on dA, I'm finding it a good bit easier on me and I'm able to dig more out.

I'd love to read you running wild with imagery. I do it sometimes. One piece I have open right now is just that kind of thing.

I have different stations for my different mediums, like one for pastels, one for photography, one for writing, etc, but generally I write wherever I can that's quiet and work on pastels at home.
But writing two poems at once is difficult for me not because I can't do it, but I guess I view each poem as a child with their own personality and needs: I can't take care of one until I've addressed the other, if that makes sense.

I prefer to write from internal cues, just because everyday things in the world inspire me. While it seems that most of my poems are extremely personal and "talking" to someone, most are just from things I've seen during the day. I like to imagine relationships between mundane things and bring them to life on paper.

it could be the male brain able to compartmentalize. it could also be my own screwed up head. sometimes writing is just like taking dictation; like it's already fully formed and memorized in my head and I just have to write it down.

I do get it, though. When I'm doing this, with several open at once, I can start them, but I can only go so far. and I don't get to choose which one I finish. I finish whichever one is coming out.

a station can be as little as a notebook I keep near a seat, or a computer workstation with multiple PCs able to do anything from surfing the web to vector graphics, music/video editing, code HTML, be a web server...

my tablet is always fun, and I can publish directly from it.

That's pretty much what I do: the piece is already formed in my head before I put it on paper, although sometimes I go back through it and edit it. Once a line or an idea grabs me, it carries me until the end. I have never not finished a poem, which I think is saying a lot!

I love my journal! I keep all of the journals I've ever had with all of my works. It's nice to have them in handwriting. Tells me what state of mind I was in when writing them.

I have a multiple PC workstation for work. It's pretty cool.

I agree... opinions change, limitations may be overcome... out potential is truly amazing if we put forth the effort to make it happen.

Yes!
It seems like we're supposed to internalize a lot of opinions and equate those with self-worth, when most of them just bring us down.
