Description
You threw me in with the sharkshemorrhaging
self-doubt through sandpaper gills.
Water-logged lungs
mermaid kisses
and I sink to the bottom
clownfish laughing above me.
But kelp prisons cannot hold beauty
and I rise to the top
breaking waves
triumphant.

The form in this is indeed fascinating, I like the way each stanza rolls out and then retreats back to the beginning for the next one to start.
As below, the imagery is well handled, and very effective.

argh. I just checked. I am following you. but dA isn't putting your stuff in my messages.
I had some poems stolen once. one was on a similar theme, only I beat it to death. you handled it quite nicely.
thank you

I have that problem with certain people I watch, too. I'll only see their stuff if they submit it to groups I watch!

I wasn't getting good updates from NaPaWriMo either. I had to come track these down through your profile.
still, it's a first world problem.

Water-logged lungs. Mermaid kisses. I absolutely love that combination. After spending many years at sea in the Navy, the ideas of drowning and surviving a trip to the depths of the sea are etched into my mind... Either way a mermaid will play a hand in your outcome.
Love it

I love the ocean and being carried by the waves, but the idea of drowning terrifies me. I definitely thought about it while writing this.
And thank you for your service! I come from a military family and married military; veterans are always welcome here!

I felt that way today, when work dropped this huge meeting on me last minute! I felt like they were trying to set me up for failure...but I proved them wrong. I kicked major ass! >;3

This started out interesting, then it blew my mind.
"Water-logged lungs

and I sink to the bottom
clownfish laughing above me."
That was brilliant!
