Description You fell on a grenade.

I tore through you like
  teeth through meat
             your resiliency
             pulsing and wet
  on a bone plate.

You had told me you did not want to go
       clinging to my breast, fearful
but I was not willing to entertain
                      the sum of your tears.

Eventually, my dear boy
                    death reaps everything we sow.

You had told me you did not want to go
       heaving
but I was not meant to protect you
              forever.

Strong imagery here.
I especially love "death reaps everything we sow."

Excellent piece.  It really breathes life into the paradoxical image of someone who clings to and has an expectation of protection from the person who has harmed them.

It's very interesting how people cling to those that are not good for their health.

We live and we learn, right?

This is powerful and you captured the emotion perfectly. Letting go of someone you care about is extremely difficult. Even from years of experience in compartmentalizing people from my days in the Navy, there are people that break through those barriers.

Letting go is one of the hardest experiences we can deal with, I think. We don't necessarily realize how attached to others we are until we have to let them go, whether it's emotionally, spiritually, or physically. But sometimes, it's very necessary.

I loved this <3 Discussions about death and similar things come easy to me and my family because we feel like it's a natural part of life, but I really like the fear you capture in this piece <3 great job!

Or could it be that sometimes people just don't want to let go of us, even while we're living?

Thank you for your kind words.

haha people will be clingy whether they're at the prime of their life verge of death, and I think that's a healthy way to be. If we didn't cling to life and all that it gives us at every moment, it' might slip away <3 and no problemo <3 u deserve em!
