Description
Took a picture of myself while I was in all my gear at the epilepsy center. Figured if anyone wanted to know how all the EEG gear during a five day stay looks.Info:
- It itches like crazy within hours. Most people, including me, go a little mad as they go for the fork.
- There is an EEG monitor in the room within sight.
- There is also a camera that follows your every move in front of your bed.
- Generally all the wires are covered by the cloth leading into a small bag to hold the main conector.
- You get to use your own button up cloths (unless you op for the hospital gown.)
- The point is to induce seizures.
~ Hope the information helps, Parize. If you have any other questions or want other pictures, ask me.
Edit (4/15): It's been a long time and many tests since this picture. Apparently, my seizures are both organic and non-organic which is difficult to treat except it's being done. I'm alright.

It looks terrible, glad its "only" a EEG. But its also connected to epilepsy which is not nice. I hope you at least dont have grand mal seizures ;

Glad I don't have that either, it would make life so much harder. It was more generalized tonic clonic until I grew out of it at thirteen. When I was twenty I had a big seizure, we're still trying to find out what's wrong now.
It's not a movement disorder (they think), not epilepsy (they think), and not psychological (they're sure). It looks like epilepsy though despite the clean tests, they're thinking it has an organic cause right now. The medication is working though.
Calling up for to schedule more testing tomorrow.

why do they want to enduce seizures?
Is it to see how you react?
(First aider who has never seen this before )

It's to see your artifact on the EEG if it's epilepsy or not. And, as you said, to see how my seizures happened when they occurred. The test was inconclusive though. There was too much artifact to see. There was scaring from my past seizures that showed up though.
How it works is that they wanted me to have a seizure. As soon as it would happen they would would require me to mark it on the EEG. Since there is actually a button near me to press. After that I would have to call the nurses. If I didn't call them, they would come to check on me fairly quickly. If it doesn't stop then they have to knock me out. Which did happen once, nearly twice.

Well you have to deal with things that other people have not had to do, and the fact your calm makes you strong.
I've lived with sick people and disabled people for years and it always amazes me how the people who have to live with conditions and illnesses can endure things that 'normal' (and i say that sarcastically) people would whine about and be dramatic

I think we all just get used to it, and things stop phasing you. It amazes me how people can complain about the smallest annoyance.
I know what you mean there in a way. You're also the first to explain it properly because a lot people say that. Then after they never tell me what they mean. Always leaves me confused.
You said you are a first aider? Color me curious, but what is that? Is it a nickname for a profession?

Yeah, i used to hate walking, after i had my feet numbed for the removal of some defective nails, i wqas temporaily in a wheelchair and the looks and difficulty getting round... that taught me how these people must feel
That anoys me to, i ask for people to exsplain but mostly people think i'm takieng the micky
I volunteer for St.John's ambulanc i go to a group where they teach me various first aid techniques e.g.
CPR
recovery position
how to deal with a casualty/multiple injuries e.t.c
imagine a basic paramedic who works for free
if someone is hurt i will go and help them, sometimes we go 'on call' which means groups of us go ti big events like football matches and offer help to the ambulance services :3

That sounds awful... I can see why you would hate walking. Can relate to that, funny enough, in another way. The wheelchair though, hate the wheelchairs. That would really teach you how everyone else feels.
Weird, must be something everyone assumes everyone else should understand then...
You volunteer? You're so lucky to be able to do that! To learn all that. It would be really helpful to know in life, or even if you ever wanted to go into a medical profession. Except volunteering seems much more rewarding.
You're one of the few people who actually goes to help when their hurt? You're amazing. Not those many people do that... Sounds so exciting though.

Yeah...
The problem now a days is nobody seems to care about anyone else
Thanks :3
i heard a crash once a girl had passed out from on top of the table and hit the floor, the teacher told everyone to stay and ran off, nobody out of the 30 in my class moved, i did
i wasn't even trained then, and out of the 60 (30 in the next room) nobody touched her, if that happened now i would know how to help
she was ok but it wasn't very good :S

I can never understand why no one goes to help. It's so scary and painful when everyone stares and watches. Plus, if it's life threatening you could actually die without immediate care.
It's suppose to be the mob mentality, if I remember correctly that causes most people to act like that. Assuming that someone else will help, and no one or very few ever go to help.
Good to hear that she was okay in the end. At least you were there for her.
You're a very kind person.

Same here the golden hour it's called get help within an hour you have a greater changce of full recovery after that it goes downhill, fast, even by a minute
we also get taught how to care for someone e.g. in our first aid books it shows how to treat someone who has had a fit with dignity, someone who has been raped, someone who whos suffering hypo/hyperglycemia - diabetes related issues e.t.c
yeah wish i could have done more than move when told to :S
Thank you :3

It's good to be taught how to do that. I wish more people out there were like you.
Always a wish.

Sorry to hear that, you have gone really far from just going with basic knowledge at the start.
It's great you can help now.
Art doesn't have to be good. That only works best to attract attention. What's better is when it's meaningful. Which your art achieves in that aspect. I expect you to get much better, if the number of deviations you have submitted say anything.
I see, Jay. I would never know though, in the idea of real or online name.
For that name you get my nickname, Gabe.

Where are you from? You don't have to tell me. Slightly curious because of all the language barriers.
Experienced those too though. Except it was either with chinese, korean, or spanish. The world is a fun and interesting place with that.
That helps that she is good with english, but it's so cool that she can speak swedish.

That sounds crazy to me, it's depressing because I can actually see that happening in this day and age.
Deviant Art is a good place to meet all sort of people. It can be a double edged sword, but it seems mostly helpful for the years I have been on here.
My boyfriend thinks 30-40 miles is bad. You must really love her if you still together despite the miles between the two of you.

Agreed, and i know the feeling well
Indeed it is, when you meet on a place you both like you have similar likes and dislikes which is better than dateing sites when they're mostly all about sex/control
is that how far you and he are?
I do, i belive she is very special, i'd go so far as to say she may even be the one but it is a bit early to say, we've been together since the 4th of january this year and all is well :3

True.
Yeah, I can't drive currently. iIt's hard for me to get a ride a lot of the time too. He usually has drives over to see me. The thing is the highway over is very dangerous. Leaves me worried he might not make it over or back one day.
It is a tad early, you'll see with time. If you think that now, it could be true. At least that is what I believe. I have seen some of my friends get together with that belief, or small belief and they have been together for years. Although with the bumps on the road here and there.
