Description
A color script I did for practice, based on "The Singing Bone" by the brothers grimm. Here's a story synopses:A boar lays waste to a country, and two brothers set out to kill it. The younger meets a dwarf who gives him a spear, and with it, he kills the boar. Carrying the body off, the man meets his older brother, who had joined with others to drink until he felt brave. The older brother lures him in, gives him drink, and learns of the younger brother's adventure. They then set out to deliver the body to the king, but on passing a bridge, the older kills the younger and buries his body beneath it. He takes the boar himself to the king and marries the king's daughter.
One day a shepherd sees a bone under the bridge and uses it to make a mouthpiece for a horn, which begins to sing on its own. The shepherd takes this marvel to the king. On hearing the song, which tells the tale of the murder, the king has the younger brother's skeleton dug up. The older brother cannot deny murdering him and is executed. The younger brother's bones are buried in a beautiful graveyard
I changed it in small ways, but the story is largely the same.

The only complaint I have is that, hadn't you explained in the synopses that the boar attacked the village, I wouldn't have been able to tell. Having a panel dedicated to showing the boar's attack, or one shortly after the fact where we see it covered in blood, or something to that effect, would perhaps make things a bit clearer for the viewer. But this is a minor thing, asides from that, great work! love the lighting and colors of your first few panels in particular

I changed that part to the boar attacking the brother's livestock, my mistake for not editing the synopses!

Sorry for the odd question, but when you do those big soft shadows(from the clouds or whatever), is there a color you choose for it, or do you just use black? Also, is there any resources you can recommend for learning how to setup tonal compositions effectively like this?
Anyways, sorry for all the questions. Really digging these thumbs .

For cloud shadows I usually use the ambient color (color of the sky) and have it on a multiply layer, then I select the area and on a new layer add a subtle amount of reflection of the sky.
For practicing this sort of thing you should just do black and white abstract comps, learn about gestalt principles for design and apply them in those. Practicing color is a bit more difficult, I just kind of use color in almost everything I do, so 2000 paintings later I got to this point.

Oh, i've never heard of the gestalt principles before. Thank you for the reply .
