Description
So, it's been a while since I've posted any drawings of mine up here, so I figured I'd ought to dust it off. Luckily, I recently got into a good mood to draw a character that I wanted to draw for a while: a second gem character for the Steven Universe...universe. This is Howlite, and yes: she is meant to appear female, and her gem is placed over where her left arm would be.
Name: Howl (Howlite)
Gender: Female
Height: 6'8"
Weapon: Large axe
Gem Type: Howlite
Likes: Being active, training her body and others, challenges and hot drinks
Dislikes: Ungratefulness and unfair judgement
Hobbies: Howl enjoys going for walks, particularly when out in nature. The more in tune with nature her path is, the more at ease and calm she feels.
Personality: Howl may be large and almost barbaric in appearance, but she shows a high level of intellect and can often be very sarcastic. She has a knack for being awkward around new people despite doing her best to be social. However, Howl makes up for that by being an incredibly reliable and dependable being, seeing every task she takes through to the end and having a person's back when they're in a spot of trouble.
Abilities: Howl's unique ability is the ability to create constructs which she can control as she sees fit. Unlike Pearl's holograms, these constructs are solid and can cause damage. The constructs she makes can vary in size and form, but the toll is greater on her body when she attempts to form bigger constructs. She often is asked why she doesn't simply use these constructs to give herself another arm, which she shrugs off as she has come to living happily with just her one.
The inspiration for her design was greatly influenced by not just the multitude of varying body types from Steven Universe itself, but also from several Game of Thrones characters (in particular Ygritte and Brienne) I've wanted to draw her for a while, but never thought of how well I could put her down onto paper. Thankfully, though, I think she turned out well. I do intend on giving my other gem OC, Charo, an updated reference and bio.
