Obviously that man is the US government because public schools are payed for by the government, definitely not by corporate suits. It would at least make more sense if you were talking about private schools

Is it possible to criticize bank bailouts while also decrying the corruption of teacher unions?

Not ALL teachers are bad. Just the bad ones.

Forgive me, I seen far to many attacks on teachers as a whole to believe that rubbish.

As a son of two public school teachers, I know for a fact that not all teachers are bad. Some are good, but those are few.
Personally, I consider the problem to be the system itself, not the teachers. Though it does not help when unions protect bad teachers.

I'm the son of two public school teachers also, most teachers do a good job with what their given and the media still pisses all over them.
Unions don't have as much say as you think when it comes to firing teachers.
California has strong teachers unions and around 6.91% of probationary teachers are fired pre year, while in North Carolina were 97% of teachers are non-union only 1.38% of probationary teachers are fired by administrators per year.

I don't think the media "pisses" on teachers as much as they do the public school system, and considering the piss-poor job it is doing, it's not hard to see why. And like I said, it doesn't help that teacher unions not only protect bad teachers, but lobby against education reform. It's not exactly doing teachers any favors when they literally work against the best interests of their students like that.

Just because you don't think does don't it doesn't. I seen the way teachers are viewed by the media and it's sicking. public schools aren't as bad as people make them out, the reason there easy to attack is because they have to take on people of many different classes or learning skills, while private schools can be discriminatory in who they choice.
As I pointed out before Unions don't have much say in if a teacher is fired or not, also it has to protect teachers, bad or good, before people could be fired for any reason and often were.
And the "reform" they lobby against is usually things like No Child Left Behind which do nothing but damage public schools.

If teachers manage to bring our students grades up to the level of other countries students in the global tests that spend the money we do on eduction, this problem will disappear.
I live in Wisconsin, we we used to run adds saying "Thank a teacher!" Now we've elected a republican governor, mostly because the citizenry was tired of the dry=humping going on openly between democrat party politicians and the education and state employee unions.
I don't think people just woke up one morning and decided to hate teachers. I think we just want Johnny to be able to read, write and count well in return for the money we spend.

"Privatize profits, socialize the problems" , the way of the current neo-liberalistic, capitalistic world. International corporations make billions of profits, but if they don't, they make and image of themselves, that the whole civilized world will fall without them, so the blind liberalistic politicians pour taxpayers money to them...
I just wonder how long can this type of system last?

So, you admit the problem is corporate socialism?

Not that I'm on their side, but don't banks typically lose money when they foreclose on a home? It was irresponsible lending practices that made the crisis sure but I'm fairly sure it hit banks pretty badly (obviously that hurt the lower classes the most but it wasn't a calculated move to profit from them)

A dark, dystopia world where humanity, ethics, and human dignity all take second place to the relentless pursuit of profit at all costs. This is in the world in which we live. This is the world in which we die.

Also a world where banks are capitalists when they make money but are as socialist as possible when they seem to be losing money.

If I screw up at work, I get fired. If the big wigs at banks screw up, not only do they not get fired, but they get taxpayers to pay for their mistakes and then award themselves millions of dollars in bonuses in your money.

Yeah, and Private or Independent Schools have lousy performance statistics. And having been a Special Educational Needs Tutor for over ten years, it is not any easy or cushy career or job. (unless of course you're being ironic) It is however, one that is immensely satisfiying when you see a student make progress in their abilities and a belief in their self-esteem.
