Description
In FallMy first thought with this one was to not post it. But then I realized that if I only posted the ones I felt really good about, I would be shutting myself off from trying different things. IN this one, I was trying to communicate a connection through the glances of the characters, but I don't think it came out as clearly as I wanted it to. I also wanted to imply the beginning of fall, when the light changes, and the shadows turn. Overall, it's not the best image in the world, but, very much like the foliage image I did a while ago, it's a good "getitoutthere" sketch that will help me figure out how to communicate more with faces. It's not easy to show work you are not sure of, but it does help you grow by accepting that no matter where you think you are at with your art, there is still an enormous amount of room left for growth.

I agree that it doesn't quite communicate the beginning of fall without a background, but the connection between the characters' glances is certainly there. I also like the proportions of the characters, how they're so leggy yet not grotesquely disproportionate.

Actually, with such subtle palette and the contrast between the vertical-ness of the drawing against their horizontal contact emphasized by her hair expresses much more strongly on this one. I loved it.

this is actually one of my favorites of what you have posted lately.. i like the simplicity and maybe it didnt catch what you wanted it to specifically but i can see a tired timid glance exchange.

I love your mindset with your artistic skills and career. With everything we do, there is always going to be room for growth and improvement, and I love that you're always willing to learn from your successes as well as pieces that you aren't as proud of. By having that attitude, I think you're setting a great example for budding young artists who look up to you and admire your art (like me! ).
That being said, I do like this image though. The roughness and windswept look give it a very organic feel, and I do think the viewer can get the feeling of autumn through the characters' faces.

If you gave it something like a colorful orange and red autumn background, it would look great. I like the lighting on the characters, the sideways glance, and the windblown hair. It stands very well as a work-in-progress.

It is very nice! I admire your courage in sharing something you're not sure of. The glances are great! Definitely have to zoom in to see it well though.

oh, you and your ability to create warm pieces...
honestly, what made me think of fall were the legs. you made them really long, and alongside with the lighting, they reminded me of the tall trees around where i live that start losing their leaves, blowing in the wind. In fact, the faces and the flowing hair adds on to that effect.
such a wonderful job :3

im glad you posted this. I think its neat. the subtle smile of the characters does carry over well. i get a "sense" of fall from the colours in their jacket. it would be a great cover for a short story. I like it.
