By the time you both reached Castle Town, your horses were panting heavily. You jump down from (h/n) and apologise to her. You lead her to a patch of grass and let her rest there.

“Good work, (h/n). It’s because of you, we beat the elf.”
“I can hear you, y’know.” Link grunts. “You won only ‘cause you had a head start.”
“Aww. Is the Hero mad?”
“Shut up.”

You grin and lead Link to the stall selling corn. You buy 350 rupees worth of corn and hand over some of it to Link.
He thanks you. The both of you walk over to your horses and feed them some of the healthy looking grain. They neigh happily and resume doing...uh....horse things?
(A/N- I have almost no idea what horses do in their free time, sorry!)

Link points up to a tree on top of a gently sloping hill. You figure that he wants to rest there. Shrugging, you follow him to the top.You flop down under the shade of the tree. Link follows your action, but a tad bit more gracefully.

“So....wassup?” You say, trying to strike up a conversation.
“Eh. Nothing, really.”

“I still haven’t figured out who you rejected the Princess for.”
Well, that was subtle. Toootally not suspicious (m/n). Way to go.

“Aha! I see you’re as curious of my love life as I am of yours. Let’s just say that person’s closer than you think.” The Hero of Time plucks a few blades of grass.

“Alright. Let’s play the game of hinting the person you like game!”
“You just made that up, didn’t you?”
“Yep. But never mind that. You start!”

“Fine. The person I like is annoying.” Link states, turning on his side, facing you.
“Hmm. The guy I like is adorable.” You say cheekily, looking at him.

“The guy I like is fun to be around.” The Hero glances at you.
“Guy?! Wait.. Huh?!”, you scrunch up your eyebrows.

“Oops. Guess I let that out now~” Link sings without an air of worry.
You laugh and hit him for not telling you earlier. He chuckles.

You continue the game.
“The guy I like is loved by all.” You pointedly look at him.
You're going into dangerous territory here, (m/n).

“The guy I like is adored by a ton of girls, so sometimes I feel insecure.” Link breathes.

“Well, the guy I like is usually almost never in the village. So, I feel lonely.”
You pull your hand through your hair to get a better view of Link.

The both of you lose track of what the other is saying, and continue to speak.

“The guy I like is handsome.”
“The guy I like is cute.”
“The guy I like is a Ranch Hand.”
“The guy I like is a knight.”

“The guy I like is--”

“You”, the both of you mouth together.

You gape at Link, trying to comprehend the situation. He has the same expression on his pale face.

Me.
The Hero likes me.
Me?
Me.
Damn.
Now what.

“Well, um. I don’t really understand what’s happened here.” Link pale face turns scarlet.

“Hero. I like you. You like me. We’ve said it. It’s a surprise for the both of us. But hey. I guess my ‘unrequited love’ isn’t so unrequited anymore.” You sit up.

The green-clad boy seems dazed. His face doesn’t lose the bright colour.

“And at least now I understand why you rejected the Princess. I’m just too desirable.”
You declare happily.

Link tries to find his words.
“So..t-to make this clear. Are w-we going to..erm. Be in a relationship, or something?”

“If it’s cool with you.”
“Yeah!” Link says, with a bit too much enthusiasm.
He quickly corrects himself. “I mean, yeah.. Sure.”

You smile smugly.”Well then, would you like to get a hotel room or something, seeing that it’ll be nightfall soon?”

The curtains are closed. The lamp’s out.
Link pushes you on the bed. He maneuvers quickly on top of you.
He bends to give you a kiss. But you push his chest away.

You sneer. Using your weight, you flip the positions around.

“Who said I’m going to let the Hero top?”
