Description
One of the most traditional English food - toad in a hole. Sausage on a tub of mashed potatoes. We had that in White Horse Pub, Oxford.Related content

I've never seen toad in the hole that looked like that. Looks more like bangers and mash inside a large yorkshire pudding.

Someone mentioned that before. But the menu said so...

You probably went to a pretty expensive place I'm guessing. It's the same with most countries really. The tourists go to places that are too expensive for the locals to go to very often, so get these stylised versions of everything. It's why it says on the guides to India if you want the best, most authentic food don't go to the big name restaurants, go to the cafes and street vendors.
Still I suppose looking at the dish you have up here it probably tastes pretty much the same as the traditional toad in the hole anyway ;3

I suppose you are right. A pub along the main thoroughfare in Oxford will probably not be a cheap place.

Well, it tasted good. So, I guess it's worth it.

Toad in the hole is traditionally in a Yorkshire pudding, not mash though?

Oh yes... Indeed. It did have the Yorkshire pudding at the bottom. Thanks for the information

Because the description sounds more like Bangers and Mash - which is Sausage on a load of mashed potato.

Come to think of it, I can't be absolutely sure what was described on the menu...
