it's some sort of transparent elasticky stuff we got given ... not sure what exactly its made of but it's much stronger than normal elastic, specially made for beading i think although i guess you could use that too.

yes it is. much more hardwearing than the beading wire we sometimes make jewellery with. and no need 4 those damned fiddly clasps!
