Hello there, right the Poi would be £25 and Sir is £10, we mainly accept payment through paypal but also UK postal order/cheque but both of those cost money to convert, so it easiest and safest to use paypal, even if you don't have one maybe you know someone who does.
The postage will vary depending on where abouts you are in the world. If you are not from the UK and would like the prices in $ or euros please say and we will convert it for you. Also, if these prices are out of your price range we are open to offers
Thanks.

Well in that case I may as well take Sir off your hands, lucy's poi are tempting but I think I want to make me some new poi or fire chains for myself. Not done in a long time and think gonna get some wire wool on my way home and make the ones that spark

Where do I send the postal order to? Not gonna haggle about the price, just gives me flashbacks of Monty Python if I did that.

I've seen pics of Gigi Edgley who plays Chiana on Farscape doing it with ribboney things, and also she did it pnce on the show with fire ones. She's really good at it. Those are really cool! I like the colors.

Damn cool. Im going to make a set myself. What did you weigh the balls with?

patchworkers In reply to AshleyTheLoser [2006-11-26 16:54:10 +0000 UTC]

do it! i used tennis balls which is what they're usually made with, but you have to make a big cut down one sideof the ball so the impact hurts less! you could also make bean bag poi for something altogether less bruise-inducing. also one other important thing- make sure there is some sort of swivel mechanism near the head of the poi or the cords will twist up as you spin 'em. i just put a couple of beads inside the ball.

Eii bruises. I use glow sticks often and have a bruise on my back from a failed body wrap x)

poi-spinning is a performance art, Maori in origin, you loop the handles over your fingers and spin circles in the air (whilst trying to avoid hitting yourself with the balls). there are hundreds of different tricks of varying difficulty. these are practice poi but you can also get fire poi for spinning fire (dangerous but amazing to watch!). kind of hard to describe properly but there are loads of sites devoted to it if you want to see for yourself. most poi u can buy in the shops follow a boring generic design and are expensive, so I thought I'd make a pair myself.

Oh!!!
Now i know what those are!!!
Yes, here we do something similar, with a heavy ending and paper stripes, so they look kinda of the ribbons in artistic gimnastic

I think I've seen taht before. Doesn't david on Lilo and Stitch do that with fire? I think so.

David from Lilo and Stitch does a Hawaiian type of fire spinning. I know it's a type of staff (almost) that has a hook or knife on the end to make it even more dangerous. Poi are two separate things while David did a single staff/baton thing. Fire poi is two balls usually made of Kevlar wick attached to a chain and spun. There are many different types of fire spinning; poi, staff, batons, whip, dart.

Here's a video of fire poi.
