Cookie Crumble is intelligent and suave, often winning the hearts of schoolfillies with his charm. He's funny, smooth, and cunning, but his laziness in school not only earns him a bad reputation with his teachers, but appeals to his admirers, painting him as sort of a "bad boy". In reality, he is too bright for the material he learns in school and quickly loses interest- he'd rather be out learning about something worthwhile, like advanced levitation and elemental manipulation spells, or playing pranks on the ponies who are rude to him.

Brownie Batter is the smallest of the triplets, and the weakest by far. She is paralyzed from the hip down, and uses a wheelchair to get around. She becomes fatigued easily and has a hard time being out in the sun for long periods of time, as well as standing up for more than an hour at a time. She tries not to let her disabilities get her down, but it is undeniably hard when her siblings can do things she can't. She begged her parents for homeschooling after she could no longer take the bullying she endured at the public school, and likes to spend her time baking with her parents and making crafts.

Strawberry Shortcake prides herself on both her sweet facade as well as her power-packed punches. She loves to make punching bags out of fillies who make fun of her sister or her friends, and she can never be caught because of her innocent mask she puts on when she gets blamed for a black eye ("I didn't do that, I pwomise..."). She'd do anything for her sister and brother, even pull a first-degree felony, if it meant making them smile. She, as well as the other two triplets, are active members of the Cutie Mark Crusaders, but their best friends are always found in each other.

  When Pinkie Pie discovered that she was once again expecting, she felt confident in her upcoming journey through pregnancy. After all, she had been through the process three times before, and the experience was a total blast! The parties, the planning, the ability to eat all the time and not be judged- heck, why did ponies complain? She had every reason to expect that this time would be the very same.

And at first, it was. The cravings came and went as per usual. The doctor visits happened as planned, and through the early stages Pinkie was not phased by anything. She and Cheese were ecstatic to meet their new little party-goer, and couldn't wait to shower their baby with kisses and affection. But around the second trimester, the pregnancy took a few... unexpected turns.

After a few months, Cheese noticed Pinkie was gaining weight faster than usual... MUCH faster than usual. Even their first child, born a whopping 13 pounds, hadn't required her to eat as much as her current pregnancy. She found herself needing to eat waaaay more than usual (not that she was complaining, she loved food!) and, just to be safe, the couple decided to move their monthly checkup to a closer date, just to ensure that everything was going as planned.

  The couple was horrified when the ultrasound revealed not only one foal, but three, nestled up tightly next to one another in peaceful slumber.

The doctor gloomily informed them of the risks of having triplets, as well as the possible damage it could enforce upon both the mother and her children. The chances of the triplets all surviving the pregnancy alone was slim, and the birthing process was even more treacherous. What was worse, the carrying of triplets almost always took a toll on the mother physically and emotionally, and the birth was likely to leave her with lasting repercussions. The doctor shook his head, taking his glasses off to wipe at them, before sighing and uttering words that would haunt Pinkie and Cheese for the rest of their lives:

"I'm sorry, you two, but should you decide to continue carrying these foals, there is a strong chance Pinkie Pie may not survive."

The two were baffled. The next days were full of mourning and fear. What were they to do? Pinkie felt a strong connection with the little foals growing bigger by the moment within her, but her life was more and more at stake every moment they continued to develop. She was too afraid to tell her friends- "What if they push me away?"- and spent most of her time alone, worrying and crying over her children. She couldn't bear to lose them; she truly loved them from the bottom of her heart, wanting nothing more than to see them grow up big and strong. She wanted to be there for every milestone, every moment, every giggle and every tear- but to Pinkie, the shadow of death seemed to loom in every corner, waiting for the right moment to snatch her or one of her precious unborn babies' lives away. The fear was overwhelming, and the days alone in her room turned into weeks.

Cheese, determined to cheer up the love of his wife, went to Twilight. He told her everything, from the shocking news of triplets to the day-to-day fear of the fast-approaching labor, and after a good cry, Twilight got to work. She set up parties for Pinkie with all of her friends (in which Pinkie was showered with tight tearful hugs and attempts to make every moment last). She (sloppily) knit adorable clothes and booties for the oncoming triplets, determined that they would live to wear them. And finally, she and Zecora worked tirelessly on a magical solution of any sort to protect pinkie from the oncoming danger of childbirth.

In the final days before her labor, Pinkie was almost back to her old self, reassured by her friends that they would love her always and forever, no matter what came next. She still found herself crying, hoping that somehow she would get to spend many more days with her soon-to-be-born children as well as her family and friends, but it gave her quite a bit of comfort to know that, even if she wasn't going to be around, the triplets would grow up surrounded by friends and family to love and support them. As a final gift before entering the labor room, Twilight handed her a flask, encouraging her to drink the substance inside ("mmm, tastes like cookie dough!") and hoping to Celestia above that Pinkie would be all right.

The labor was tough and extremely painful, and Celestia, it took forever-36 hours and forty minutes- but somehow a miracle occurred, and all three triplets were born alive and well, with only a few minor conditions. Pinkie, after hours of endless pushing and worrying, collapsed into unconsciousness after the last of the triplets was rushed from the room. Cheese paced back and forth in the waiting area, sobbing loudly and assuming the worst, while the mane six comforted him through their own tears, when the doctor stepped out to congratulate him on a successful birth. His wife would suffer a temporary inability to walk, but after about a year of physical therapy, she would make a full recovery. Twilight and Zecora's magical protection potion successfully saved the lives of Pinkie Pie and her triplets, and she would go on to help make it available for all ponies experiencing the rarity of multiple births.
