Description
My take on the Red Power Ranger, originally known as the Tyranno Ranger - I wanted to make a new spin on the power rangers in mid-morph, done anime-style. This may be a good or bad thing depending on what you're into, but I referenced some of the Sailor Moon transformation sequences to use as inspiration. At any rate, enjoy!

Looks great. And there was a moment like this in the actual morph sequence with the helmet forming, so it might look like this if you saw it standing back.
I remember one of the biggest questions I had watching this as a kid being what the morph looked like βfrom outside,β what youβd see if you were standing in the room when they did it. βInstamorphsβ as they call it are common now but three years of MMPR went by without one non-morph-sequence, in-real-space morph. There was this one episode where a camera was running when they did it and I was so, so excited that we were finally going to see; surely theyβd show the recording, right? RIGHT? Well, nope.
So in Zeo, in βInvasion of the Ranger Snatchers,β when they ran toward the screen and morphed and there was no reason not to expect the normal stock footage... and then... IT HAPPENED! I was screaming and running around the room and couldnβt explain to anyone just what I was so excited about, and I ran the scene over and over and over (I recorded every episode by default in case I wanted to keep it. Still do.)Β
Of course, it had enough of the PRZ morph sequenceβs effects in βreal lifeβ that itβs probably only what the Zeo change looked like and not the MMPR one. It was still so freaking awesome, but even then, and to this day (we didnβt get instamorphs with any MMPR rangers in later teamups) we donβt know what it looks like.
I always assumed (for my sanity) that it would look like a reverse of the insta-demorph seen in Green With Evil, Part 5 (the only onscreen voluntary demorph in MMPR) but of course itβd look much cooler if it was like this.

Sure thing!
I like your work - you seem to have an affinity for values, and my advice is to just keep pushing it further! Make the darks darker and the lights lighter, and see where that takes you!
Also - something I wish I focused on in my earlier years, was what style I truly enjoyed and wanted to cultivate. If you see a lot of my earlier works, you'll notice an airbrushed/illustrative feel, and looking at more recent pieces like my Red Power Ranger you'll see a more cel-shaded style. Personally I like this style better. I worried too much in the beginning about differing styles, and had I spent more time developing the style I now use, I can only imagine how much further along I'd be. What style satisfies you best? Just something to keep in mind.

Anytime! I'm more of a fan of the manga version of Unit-01, though. The new version is way too ridiculously overpowered.

This definitely references the actual Mighty Morphin morph sequence after Jason says "TYRANNOSAURUS". Side Note: Any here knows why the designer for the Zyuranger suits inputted the diamond pattern? It causes the suits' fine design but 'tis peculiar and in the back of my mind.

That's what I was thinking since about a year after I posted that. I commend you for undestanding my speech. I ain't talk well back days.... (i.e. I did not speak as properly during that time compared to now.

This reminds of a part during the morph in MMPR where there is a yellow grid pattern on the Red Ranger's helmet.
I like how your power ranger morph looks :3
I like to see what the others look like too.

That's exactly what served as the initial inspiration.
I'm debating whether or not to do the rest of the cast in this style! I'm glad you like it!
