Description
Bethesda Softworks (creators of Fallout 3) got in touch me with me about a year ago, they wanted to hire me for a 32-page comic book they were planning on having with their upcoming game Brink. So I jumped at the chance and they had me do up a sample page, I had to try and fit their unique style of characters..This is what I came up with but unfortunately after it was sent of to the big guys, it wasn't exactly the style they were looking for. I was just so happy to even be a part of it at least, even if I only got this far. So thanks Bethesda, they were even kind enough to send me copies of the game a few weeks ago after it's release.
But anyway I thought I'd share this with you all, since it didn't go ahead I'm sure it's ok to post now

how long does it take you to start (blank page) to finish (everything done move on to next page)?

Not a bad panel at all. Β Having played Brink for a bit, my impression was that it brought some interesting ideas to the table, but fell a bit flat on the execution. Β Rather surprising that nobody's since picked up on and refined any of said interesting ideas (most notably the implementation of parkour and the idea that yes, character build has more than just aesthetic effects), to my knowledge.

Late to the party, but the pics look good. I'm not sure what people are talking about in terms of style. Too bad they didn't accept it. Honestly, for a lot of people Brink turned out to be a mixed bag. Like a mix of Enemy Territory and Team Fortress but not as good as either one. This comic would be the one positive thing people would associate the game with.

I'm surprised they turned down your style, it's just how I'd imagine a Brink comic.Β

It's really cool to see a comic artist play around with dynamic panels, squares and rectangles get pretty boring after awhile. You also have very nice page flow. It's very easy to read and understand. The action is very clear and dynamic. Great job.Β

Hello my name is Thomas Bailey; I am a media and television production student. Currently I am looking for an artist to collaborate with for my comic while I cannot pay you anything for your work an am willing to contract a deal regarding the royalties. I have already written the script for the first issue and I am open to any art style. I am open and would appreciate any creative suggestion regarding the plot or the characters thus giving you the opportunity to share creative control.
If you are interested please contact me at thomasbailey71@yahoo.com . I will send you a copy of the script for you approval along with some documents detailing my plans for the book and the basic designs I have in mind for the characters.
Thank for you time and I look forward to hearing your response.

Fantastic work man⦠It's perfect!
I was once told by my lecturer back in art school that ART is something that should be judged out of it's own merit, and not out of the pocket of who the artist is and I must say, your work speaks it's own language dude, so even though the style isn't what they wanted for Fallout3, for what it's worth β that is some mighty fantastic story tellingβ¦
I am amazed Patrick Brown, very handy work there⦠#GENUINELY INSPIRING STUFF #TRUE STORY

I don't see how it's "not the style they're looking for", I mean I'd say their game's style is like...styled realism, and this is pretty much like it.

it would have been epic if they chose you to do the whole thing, imo your art suits the (poor) game fine. any idea if they actually released a comic for it b/c i don't know anything about one in existence (this is the 1st i've heard of a comic for BRINK).

I have to ask Patrick, which is your favourite faction?
And the comic page looks amazing! I can't wait to see the other 31 pages, and the text bubbles to follow along with it.

Aww, If they were to hire you, I would definitely read the comic. Your art style is awesome and portrays the Brink world exactly how it should be.
