So I've decided to try and push forward with my comic Darkness Within, you'll notice I've replaced the tattoos with glowing veins..Old one:
I am definitely going to stick to this idea with the veins I think, what do you think? And I'm still trying to find a name for my character.. And I don't mean like "red-vein guy" or "emo dude" I'm going to steer from the usual superhero thing and make my hero more real. Like more believable
Might call him Jack or something...Let me know what you all think of my concept.. He's almost ready, and then I will map out all the pages and begin making this comic

Dude, This is some Intense stuff man! Lovin' the face and red veins idea. Such a dynamic stance, and really great Glow affect! Love it man nicely done.
I was taking a look at some of your other concepts, I love the style too, but to be honest it looked a bit much like you were trying too hard to give it the goofy affect, which I totally Dig! But this one looks much more natural and fluid than the older guy you did. The Angles are much more natural and complement the character more.
The white eyes are a MUST! They're so damn cool!
So overall;
Vision: 5 stars man, insane!

Wow dude very nice. This is far more comic looking than your regular style. Is this a permanent style change or a style you will lock down for the comic? A name like Jack is good it think. You are right in thinking that a name like that makes him more real. Steve or Dave, Jack or John. The veins are cool, yet I can't help thinking they are a little cliche (don't ask me where from it's just a feeling, sorry) This style I think is definitely a goer for the direction you are taking this comics. Its a little more dark and can be taken more seriously I think than your older style. Don't get me wrong your usual style is great. But I think this will lock you down into the comic store and feel like home a bit more. I like the sketchy style of the line work. It has more passion and emotion in it. I think if you push this style you will more easily be able to communicate the character and what he will go through.
Vision: Great
Originality: Fair (the glowing veins i'm not sure about)
Technique: Fantastic. I love the new direction in style. Be weary about loosing all the highlights though, Don't make everything so diffused. Try using highlights to your advantage to help accentuate areas of interest. I can appreciate this is a night scene though.
Impact: Different from your other image of "Jack" Last time it was strong and forceful like he is standing up for something. This feels more like you have caught him on a CCTV camera or something. Like he is on the run. Good over all impact though.

I think I preferred the tattoos, they seemed more unique, something I really haven't seen before.Β As for the art style, I guess it all depends on what you are going for.Β This art style is a lot rougher (in a good way) and darker looking.Β The old art style felt more "fun" and spunky.Β I love both, but I personally find the old design of the character more compelling.

So I looked through your entire gallery so I could accurately respond. While I like the edgier look, I have to say this 'Jack' is a lot more generic than your other one. The other one carried style. The differing proportions made the character stand out, and the lithe body build gave a sense of energy and movement.
The first Jack was more cartoony, but much more iconic.
The second Jack carries a solid sense of maturity, if a more generic one.
I have to say the glowing tattoo whispy energy was much more eye catching, and it allows the viewer to decide for themselves if it really is evil.Β
It will be hard to empathize with a truly evil character. Maybe sticking with the tattoos, but slowly having them leave permanent damage to his body would show how harmful the power is.
But hey, I love the concept. It's awesome.

I would like to see the same image but with the flowing look from the old one. I could give you a better critique. Right now I'm seeing tron the bad version from the original tron movie. I like the above, overhead view. Looks great. The neck on the old version looks like he's plastic man or something. I enjoy the dark theme going on with this, please continue. If you left him as is, I'd probably still persue the comic because he looks interesting without a lot of flash and tech stuff. He has a grungy sort of look I find interesting. Good luck with the story hope things work out.

Jack sounds good, Jake sounds better. Diggin the composition, kinda has that 'Speilbergian shot of people looking' feel going for it (impending doom!... or battle royale, what have you). Also diggin on the more realistic proportions over your usual, more stylized approach (at least for a shot like this), feels more grounded if that makes any sense.
Definitely looking forward to teaser pages if you decide to grace us with them (hint hint)

I like the roughness of it, makes it a little more edgey. And I agree with Xidon on the veins. I do like them but I REALLY liked the glowing tattoo, was more original and seemed more mystical. End of the day it's up to you though.

for a civillian name i guess something like david black would be nice
the guys face reminded me of david belle for some reason and i think he word black will match with the title Darkness Within.

I like the veins better. Makes it seem more animal, you can add that problem later on... like he can't control his powers completely. Or they're so powerful you can see them leaking from his pores.
And Jack, or maybe John, gives him a bit of an anonymous feel though. Could be a code name till the full one's figured out.
Is he gonna have a hero persona? Fancy name, costume, the works? He seems more like a Rorscharch type guy, where he just wears the very minimalist costume. No crazy capes or tights.
Overall he's pretty cool! I always enjoy your style.

Please, please do not call him 'John' or 'Jack'. Those have become the stock male protagonist names for whatever reason. I like the idea of giving him an everyman name, but those two I mentioned have become strongly overused lately.

I certainly like the more realistic look of the veins vs the tattoos. Magic/power wouldn't really concentrate itself into tattoos, unless it was magic ink. OR I suppose magical runes wold work. Who the hell cares? It's magic! Either way, I like the more realistic drawing style you used here, too. The line quality and the lighting are very toned down and very dark. I like it, and if I have a bit of an idea of this character I think it will fit him better.

You know what? Forget what I said about the veins, after I knew whats is ability from your old artworks, I think It suits well ;D it'll be cool if it has this "Blood pressure, except that its light" effects when he lifts things up or somthing!

I like the veins, but maybe you can also give him a normal tattoo. It can add a little bit of character, or definition. Your art always seems to have basic details that give it a spark!
