Description I loved making this one! I've never really created 'dust' in any of my pics so it was pretty interesting to give it a crack!

This is for the upcoming PS3 game Red Dead Redemption by Rockstar Games.. DAMN I CAN'T WAIT It's going to have all the same physics that GTA IV used and I think it'll be awesome having the big ol' Western landscape to roam around in!

This pic was mainly just to get me hyped for the game! It took me a little longer than my usual pics, about 16 hours I think.. All done in Photoshop CS3 apart from the sketch..

I hope you like it, please let me know what you all think

Thanx
-Pat

This is a Very nice job.
But the horse has no reins....
But that's okay,
Jhon marston Has got detail to his boots and His Pistol and Rifle.
Its a very nice picture.
Even though Jhon is really Skinny,
The Detail on how the people are shot in the head and back etc)
Is very nice!
I myself play Red Dead Redemption And it is a very detailed game,
I also like how you put the Bullets on the floor,
The Dust seems realistic, You my good person have talent on making pictures of red dead redemption!
Good job on this Picture.

Normally in a Critique one would possibly offer suggestions or changes, but honestly, everything here is working great.
Perspective is dynamic,
Horses anatomy can be tricky, but I think you nailed it.
The Smoke fx can sometimes be clunky...and here it's working.
The Main Characters Pose is Interesting and the Riffle overlapping the Sheriff's Building is perfect to push the depth of field.
I dig the tree in the upper right.
The pose of the main character works, and the coloring and textures are all working in harmony.
Only Suggestion: maybe the Horse should have some sort of reigns on it's face?
Great Image.
I also cannot wait for Red Dead Redemption.

I have this game and the poor thing is sitting on my shelf gathering dust all because the bloody thing intimidates me. I know that sounds... fucking stupid but it kinda does. When I first played it I was awful, and I don't mean beginners' awful I mean awful awful. I played it for about three days, maybe four, and in that time I, killed my horse three times, one by going over a cliff 'cause I couldn't find the brakes quick enough, one by accidentally shooting it instead of shooting a bandit, and once by a pack of wolves, found the Twin Peaks hideout and couldn't save the women 'cause I didn't know about dead eye, get killed by a bunch of blokes that were attacking a stagecoach or something, and then a pack of wolves once again, and more fuck ups. Did you stumbled around the game and controls for a bit at the beginning, not as bad as me obviously?

I know this is kind of a late response, but I saw it, and thought I could give some insightful input.

Yeah, I sucked at first (was intimidated by it too). It was one of my first PS3 games, too, so I didn't know the buttons at all. I had to talk my sister into even picking up the controller, she was so intimidated by it. But, after simply playing for a while, I got MUCH better. It took me FOREVER to figure out how to use Dead Eye, or to Duel, or anything because they barely explain it. Just screw around a bit and you'll figure it out (that's how I learned Poker/Texas Hold'em in this, too). Dead Eye is great for homing projectiles, like Tomahawks and Dynamite Definitely worth playing.

It was my first Xbox game which obviously wasn't a good choice, like you I didn't know where any of the buttons were. It's annoying that the first 'mission' you gotta do is race Bonnie, and I have that black horse add on which, by the way, is faster than a Cheetah on Red Bull, so I was falling off everything and running into things. Does it have predictive aiming, it's made by Rockstar I believe and they love that crap.

Yeah, I had the War Horse, too, since I got the GOTY edition. I was all over the place with that guy. When I got the game, I didn't know that R* was the same company that made the GTA games, or I might not have bought it, but I'm glad I did. Did you ever end up playing it more, by the way?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Thesleepywolf In reply to Taiamatalah [2013-11-17 00:14:11 +0000 UTC]

No. My thinking was I'll play a couple more games so I can get the feel for the controls and buttons then play Red Dead, but it's just been on the back burner. I think I'll make it the next game I play. Rockstar makes good games actually, Red Dead, LA Noire, Bully, and I think they did Hitman. I know GTA is the company's best known game series, their prized pony, but they have many great games under their belt.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Taiamatalah In reply to Thesleepywolf [2013-11-20 02:05:35 +0000 UTC]

That'd be a good idea. I know they did GTA, but not the others until recently (like, the other day when I went to GameStop and saw a R* pack that had some of said games on it). I always heard sketchy things about GTA, so I never got into the series. Β On a side note, very recently, I actually got 100% in Red Dead Redemption, and it was actually quite easy. Now, I can be awful to my heart's content! I hope you do have fun once you do play it! It's great once you know the controls. A game that actually took me longer to get the controls was Mirror's Edge. Boy, I died a lot at first.

Sketchy how so? In Red Dead, there's this honour, good guy and bad guy rating, so when it reaches 100% in either direction does it lock there or if you shoot a shopkeep in the head, it goes down again?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Taiamatalah In reply to Thesleepywolf [2013-11-20 16:29:58 +0000 UTC]

I didn't know the nature of the GTA games, and heard that they could be immoral; now that I know more, it it up to the player, so it can easily not be, like in RDR. Fame can only go up and can never go down. Honor, though, is different. If you get 100% bad and do a good deed, it will go up. If you have 100% good honor and shoot a bunch of people, it will go down. Therefore, you can continually choose to be on whatever side you want. However, let me say that it is naturally much easier to lose honor than to gain it. If you have the highest honor and don't want to lose any and still do bad things, the bandanna is great because it makes it so that you don't lose/gain honor or fame. So, I can put on the Bureau uniform and the bandanna with highest honor, go on a killing spree, and it won't affect anything. It works the other way, too. If you want to keep your low honor (like if you wish to keep your Dark Horse), put the bandanna on and you can do good deeds and they won't bring it up. It looks really funny wearing the Bureau outfit and a bandanna, riding a Dark Horse, and killing everyone in Blackwater. I actually attained the Ghost Town status in Armadillo by going on a rampage (that lasted about 12 hours of in-game time) with the Explosive Rifle and making the Dynamite home in. By the time I was done, the streets were filled with 20+ carriages and a ton of hats.

Killing an entire town takes some skill. I find myself not wanting to act like a twat and kill everyone in sight in games nowadays, which is almost impossible not to do in Rockstar games. Have you heard of the Tumbleweed Easter egg? If you're still playing the game, go to Tumbleweed cemetery and search for an alter, I suggest doing it at night.

Taiamatalah In reply to Thesleepywolf [2013-11-20 18:16:29 +0000 UTC]

Same; I always tried to play that game as straight as I could. I only ever had to use a Pardon letter for a rampage I went on one night that only accumulated $300. I was just doing it to be stupid and wasn't going to save, but I forgot that the game autosaved. One time, just for the heck of it, after I beat the main story and was feeling a certain way about it (no spoilers), I just had to go on a killing spree. I actually managed to get my bounty to $30,000 or something like that. That took HOURS and lots of hiding and ammunition. My sister wanted to see how high I could get it before dying. I obviously turned the autosave function off and didn't save that. I feel guilty killing them, so I don't do it often. If anything, the best part of free-roaming in that game is in Tall Trees. The animals there are VISCOUS! I'm just trying to make money by hunting (have the Hunter outfit, so I get double skins, meat, etc.), and then a bunch of bears and/or boars show up out of nowhere and maim me, making me lose all of my progress if I'm not quick enough to autosave. I've learned that dead-eye and the buffalo rifle between the eyes work wonders. In general, the animals are worse to fend off than the people!Β I may have heard of the Easter Egg, but I'm not sure. I'll have to give it a try. I wish that game had some more creepy stuff regarding Tumbleweed. I guess I can get my fill playing Undead Nightmare, which is tons of fun.
