Description
Whether some of you knew about it or not, Pixar had a movie that was in the works a couple of years ago called "newt." The premise was that the last two blue-footed newts in existence are begrudgingly acquainted with each other, ultimately going on one hell of an adventure before hooking up in the end. It was cancelled soon after it had been announced, and it's been pretty much confirmed that the reason behind its cancellation was because Blue Sky was already working on the exact same movie but with sassy blue macaws.

I and many other fans were really looking forward to this movie being released next year (it was supposed to be in between Brave and Monsters University, last I recall), but alas, it seems that - for now, anyway - Rio and its sequels will be the closest thing to it that we'll be getting, and I'm okay with that (although Pixar would probably have beating Blue Sky to a pulp if they had gone through with finishing this movie).

Anyway, my heart ached quite a bit the other evening while I fondly remembered the cancelled masterpiece-to-be, and I felt the need to draw the cute little protagonist. I was inspired by this piece of concept art: [link]
