Description
This picture started as an experiment: I have drawn a lot of nightly skies with moons, but I'd never drawn a sky of a sun before, and I'd never drawn a sky with clouds before. So, I basically wanted to practice just that, but it got out of hand a little. The clouds don't exactly look the way i wanted them, but its not bad for a first try and they look funny in a way (and I like the colors). And as 'just' sky is boring... I added the sea... And as it was a waste not to do anything with the background, I added the rock and the water splashing around it. I really liked that look, so... tada, there was a castle on top of it. And you can't have a castle in the middle of nowhere, so... tada, there was a somewhat bigger island.... While I was at it I initially intended for a village at the island, but the original pictures resolution was just too small to cram so much detail into it (the castle doesn't look entire 'right' because of this either). So I skipped the village, although technically, it is supposed to be there.

Of course, you can ask, how is it 'supposed to be there', if it was just a practice drawing that got out of hand? Well, I don't like wasting good backgrounds as said, and the setting of a Castle on a small rocky island with a small town just up ahead (and nothing else that fits onto the island because its too small), perfectly fits my view of the City of Matoc, the City in Elyzeria where the Elven, Dwarven and Human cultures clash.
Its more or less the 'central' city, so to speak. The City were noobs start out .

Though I'm not entirely sure if it was called Matoc anymore... not that it really matters, Elyzeria isn't up and running yet anyway, and I should have the name in one of the 201 word files i've got for Elyzeria, but I can't seem to find it atm. Either way, if it wasn't Matoc originally, I think I'm going to change it, because I like the name Matoc.
