Description
A very old drawing. I created it for a school work many years ago (I was about 15). It's a portrait of the greatest Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa.Fernando Pessoa is the extreme example of what may be the essentially modern kind of poet: the objective introvert. None has more consistently tried to find his poems impersonal. He accepted the dividedness of a human self so completely that he did something unique: wrote poetry under four names - his own and three 'heteronyms' (not pseudonyms): they are imagery poets with real poems in them. Pessoa was (at least) four poets in one: Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, Alvaro de Campos and himself; each strongly distinct from the others.
I strongly recommend reading "The Book of Disquiet"

great poem, to not want your soul.. hard to grasp why, but very interesting. Love the drawing even more though. Reminds me of some sort of circuling futurism of a sad face.

wow dreamspeak.
i love the art! the colors, the shapes,...the way you formed that person within
the context of everything else.
would i be way off if i say it's a bit 'picasso'?
and to be honest,...usually when i see that someone has used their art as
a vehicle for poetry, i pretty much dismiss it before i even read it,...don't
ask me why,...i try to be pretty open-minded,...i guess i've just read alot
of bad poetry that has kinda diminished the art in my point of view,...
(not that there isn't alot of good poetry at DA. there is.)
but,...i love this poem as well!
and the two compliments one another so nicely!
the art and the poetry.
very touching.
i mean that.
nicely done.

Good to see something new (or not so new, as the case is) from you, I like all the different colours you've used and how none of them seem to clash and the way it's set out looks cool too. Good work.

Estou perplexo!

Oh my! Oh my! I always forget something...
The drawing may look even more crap but I decided not to use Photoshop in this one (just my bad scanner).
I used "lápis de cera". Damn! I can't say that in English. Anyone does???
