Description
14x11" oils on multimedia paper....this paper advertises that it takes all mediums due to its impervious resin saturated paper content. I figured I'd work directly with oils on it to see what it does. The underpainting, which was thin with no medium, was absorbed into it without any color changes, but blending was a bit difficult. the second, layer, containing walnut alkyd medium mixed into the paint, went on just fine. If you like working on a rigid paper surface, I definitely recommend this paperThis painting is was based on a drawing posted here: paulabrams.deviantart.com/art/β¦

Love the way you have done her eyes,, very captivating. Nice work.
Have to give that multimedia paper a go, looks like it works well for this type of work, nice smooth finish.

Thanks- the brand reads: Multimedia Artboard
I was also thinking of mounting it on panel prior to painting, but it's extremely rigid, and at this size it holds its own in a frame
Now that I've done a few on this surface, it's best to give it at least one or 2 coats of matte medium unless you really like the absorption. I usually do a thin acrylic rendering of the subjectΒ on it before I do that though
let me know how it works for you

I very much agree with the person who said this image makes that person think of Belit, from the Conan stories, and the inspiration for the movie's Valeria. Β Smooth, believable contours, beautiful expression, your usual wonderful details and great pose.

Thank you- glad to hear you thought of Belit as well..I didnt want to use Buscema's (Marvel's)clothing, but just the idea of her commanding a ship
