Lancelion Ashbourne My Entry for contest.
(Ohh my God!!
My first contest!!! )Father and Son, Orlyssieus and Lancelion.
I couldn't resist of drawing Lancelion, i have to admit he is my favourite character indeed. Originally i was planning doing Lancelion but i remembered he had a father who made every part of Lancelion since he was 12 years old a perfect weapon, ready to kill and crush everybody in his path, a perfect soldier. He had a good father!
The commander of a big Knight Army, and Lancelion his Right Hand. Awesome nice! My idea of making this drawing putting both handsomes is that they have a relationship. Lancelion in his armored form, ready for battle with his sword "Chaos", Orlyssieus watching from above every single movement of his son. If you are wodnering what are those "red marks" on his knifes and sword... they are supposed to be blood of his enemies :D, his armor torso has the shape of a lion, and he has good stuff to wear on the battlefield!
Landscapes at the sides are some kind of towers i came up with, i think they "help" to get to the point! xD A darkness athmosphere.
Ohh and the thing that is between the red moon and Orlyssieus is... Orlyssieus eye. Meaning he is watching Lancelion, well that would be a good idea, to put the entire history surrounding Lancelion BUT giving attention to the other characters, seing the points of view from the rest about his personality. Adding a "dream" to Lancelion, that he wants to acomplish, but his father doesn't want him to do it would be an idea, Meet his mother? Stop being his father puppet? Be free? Love Alexia forever? A personality conflict? A Lancelion's counterpart? (who Sloth and Gluttony will represent?)Lancelion would be a funny character to use on a videogame but i fear if it would be the typical "strong-dude-who-kills-everythig-on-his-path" kind of character, i think his personality change this, making him different from the rest, also his relation with his father will help a lot on giving him a "past" who in games and histories... helps a lot to understand the character and add trama, also breacking some cliches. Also... a "final battle" with his own father would be totally EPIC.

I really like the colouring here and that sword looks fantastic. I quite like his armour and the wolf head is there, but not glaringly obvious.

His sword looks great!!!! The values you put into it makes it look like real metal!!! Very impressive! His armour looks very nice also. I like how you drew a bigger eye to the left to show that he is really watching Lancelion. Very creative! Very nice piece!

Thank you very much! 8DD I had fun triying to make a metal texture on the drawing, i discovered how to make those textueres while doing the sword of the drawing of Garland i made, it was an accident!

Isn't it exciting when you discover a way to make somthing look the way you want it? Expecially if it was an accident like in your case!

I would like to make a style that could say what 1000 words will not, i am triying that. You know, i am drawing some kind of OC's right now, with that style of drawing and my new technique.

Semi-realistic eyes sounds fun to do! I don't think you will have any trouble rendering them! That is very cool that you are trying different stlyes. I should try diferent styles also. maybe semi-realism like you! That will be cool

Yeah, semi-realism is something that has called my attention since i saw the drawings of it, specially when i started to read a comic of the Serie "The Walking Dead"

I remembered "The Walking Dead" first premiere was around Halloween. I heard it was a great show, but I never really got the chance to sit down and watch it. I checked out the links and I believe that you will really enjoy working with this style.You should be able to learn this in no time.
Haha I like the way you put that! It is so true that the anime style is over used. I personally never liked anime. I remember a lot of the art student that I went to highschool with were obsessed with this style, but I never once tried it and I dont think I ever will.
This semi-realism though really did catch my attention.I feel that I will take a break from realism and try this style for my OC character like you
About the OC, I am not to sure what I would like to do just yet. I have a couple of ideas for both genders incase I decided to do just one. I have a feeling I will have a lot of fun with this a make a couple

I like the way you think, you should NEVER draw in anime, you should be original with your art, not falling in another style as everyone else. I started with anime... and i am triying to abandom it, forever.
Semi-realism will not be a problem for you, as you are VERY good with realism. := Your OC is awesome, NO! Is Awesome Nice!

I have confidence that you will get it. It is hard when you dont have renferences in front of you. We tend to draw from our heads when we are not sure of how to draw something. This can somtimes result to something you dont want

I always liked using photo renferences more than the mirror, but I recently found out that looking in the mirror is better since you can see more values.
The tutorial you sent me can really help us out a lot! I already made notes! If I come across anything I think will help us I will defintally send you the link

Yeah, while using photo referemnces you have a vision of what you raw, but in the mirror yu are looking it on the "opossite side" ... you can see more mistakes on it, but the curious stuff is that they are teh same thing you see on the right side... scary!

Very good! The way you did father and son, with one head suspended over the over, especially, and it seems to fit your description of the two very well. Ane the wolf on his breastplate is great as well.

Oh... my... God... This is incredible, the colouring is amazing, the layout and form, the technique is excellent.
I love how much you studied the characters, you've matched up a perfect layout to what would make a perfect cover for a novel or game. Lancelion looks so intimidating, and his father behind him watching over adds to the ambience of the artwork.
And you even put in one of your moons! I love them so much and it's really incredible!

And yeah, i read both descriptions xD. I wanted to make something that could tell you just by looking the drawing how the characters are, that's why i came up with Orlyssieus. Oh and yesh! xD I had to draw a moon
