this deserved the DD! Its so sweet. i love the expression on the pigeon's face. its almost like he's smiling.

All i see is an ordinary photo that anyone could hav took, sorry but i don't see how it got a dd?

Try full-viewing it. You can see, like, every single feather. Also, the bird is completely in focus, with only the background blurred. And it's from a full-on angle, which means the camera was on the ground instead of taken from a standing position.
I've gone through almost every bird stock available on dA, and most of them are crap. This one looks great and would be very easy to use as a drawing reference or in a photomanipulation. That's why it got the DD.

Feathered fleas? Calling a pigeon a feathered flea is being ignorant. They're nothing like fleas. They can't even get fleas. A kind of flea, yes. Keds.

First of all, this is a contradiction in itself. Then pigeons are living with and from humans, which makes them a little like parasites. Fleas are parasites. "Tree Rat" doesn't fit "perfectly" as well, but it sounds funny, deal with it.
Why is it so difficult for you to leave other people their opinions? Learn not to contradict yourself in four little lines of ill-thought-out trivial chit-chat and then we can talk again.
From now on, I will ignore you.

People seem to miss the fact that this is a STOCK PHOTO. 
I think it's an excellent photo in that respect. It has no disturbing items in the background and it shows the anatomy and appearance of the subject with clarity and focus. It's an excellent stock photo. Congrats on the DD

This is one good shot of a Pidgeon, since there hard to even take a picture of.
I notice this was a Stock photo, so I can see why you left the file so large and why you would get the DD, they like to expose the stock photos out so people would notice. Which its actually pretty helpful, least for me. As a person that adores pidegons - well any bird - he looks like a proud birds of a low class 8]

i believe that this deserves the dD
the detail is crisp and well... sharp enough to see what should be seen
this photo can be a great reference and a great element.

i've browse around to look at stocks with dD... i've noticed that though they are in stock and i agree with you
yet still this might be useful in the long run... mybe the person who make it a dD sees something that we don't ^___^
