Description
It was a rough winter in Ottawa, we were on course to break the record for the highest snowfall count in the city since recorded history. There's still lots of snow on the ground and the Ottawa river looks like winter still hasn't given up. Most Ottawans are very much looking forward to spring!
From this vantage point you can see Cathedral Basilica of Notre Dame to the left and the Parliament buildings on Parliament Hill to the right. You don't see any of the more modern buildings that now grace the Ottawa skyline, I suspect this site would look pretty much the same a century ago.

It's not very often I see photos of my home town!
I do agree, we did get way to much snow this winter, hopefully it'll die down now. I can't see my backyard fence
Wonderful capture of the river and buildings, it really does show the beauty Ottawa I sometimes forget.

You're right, it probably would've looked practically identical a century ago. In today's urban civilization it's rare to find little pockets like this, where if you look at them the right way, it's like time has barely graced them with its touch.

Lovely scene. Some snow but four seasons every five minutes, so it seems, in the Highlands of Scotland over Easter weekend.

I have some old film shots tucked away someplace of almost this exact scene from when we lived in Waterrtown NY (100 years ago).. and used to go to Ottawa a lot.
