Kan was born on the floating mountain of Metagalapa in Exalted’s Creation to the Wathustret family of what passes for nobility there. His ancestors are bandits, legionnaires sent to hunt them down and the residents of a temple that were all on the mountain when it broke loose from the ground, stranding them high in the air.
Over the centuries that followed they used thaumaturgical procedures bred enormous eagles that they could ride out to trade with or raid other people. The Metagalans have raised a precious few great rocs that were invaluable in carrying supplies and the spoils from their raids. They also enslaved hawkmen that they would send out to hunt for them on the lands below their airborne homeland. In later years they acquired
Kan was an eagle rider, but due to his elevated station was allowed the use of a mount and a number of years to go out questing. He got into many adventures in quite a few lands, but was eventually captured while scavenging in First Age ruins by forces loyal to the Perfect of Paragon.
He eventually escaped, but he and his eagle were set after by a vicious thunderbird when he returned to free the other prisoners. The eagle was unable to outpace the elemental while encumbered by a rider so Kan threw himself from his mount (who are more important to Metagalapa than any rider), firing a parting shot that would slay the spirit as he plummeted to the ground.
He tried to slow his descent, but hit the sandy ground with tremendous force. Later, he awoke and found that he was in the eye of storm. The full moon hung overhead, yet the figure sitting at a campfire across from him shown brighter. She was Luna, the moon goddess, and said he had been born with a heart far too large for his body, but she could fix that.
As one of Luna’s Chosen he has the ability to transform into any animal he has ritualistically hunted and drank the heart’s blood of. His spirit form is that of a great roc, and he can transform into a war form that blends the most dangerous traits of the giant predatory bird and human.
He is now called Walking Thunder and seeks to free all who are held captive, beginning with the hawkmen his countrymen depend on for slave labor. It remains to be seen as to whether he will end up being a force for good or just an agent of chaos and disorder causing trouble by freeing criminals and prisoners of war in addition to those who are unfairly detained.

His weapon is a moonsilver powerbow that he used in previous lives has a magical bowstring that is so thin as to appear almost invisible.

He has made contact with his Solar mate, Varyka Ulzun [link] who he is magically bound to.
