According to Femi Taylor in a TheForce.net interview, during the early development of Return of the Jedi, Oola was meant to have a major part in the scenes at Jabba's Palace because her fate was not to be eaten by Pateesa. Instead, Oola was to survive and escape from Jabba's Palace. Although director Richard Marquand storyboarded the sequence of Oola's escape, it was cut because of budget constraints, so the character's role was considerably reduced, as well as her fate.

Awesome picture, but still...I will never understand the appeal of hot women in peril from big ugly monsters. Does it trigger a man's protective desire to rescue the female? Because I don't have that; I'd rather see Oola rescue a chained-up dude from the rancor.

Two explanations come to mind:
1) It combines two things that have their own audiences into a single image. Combining something cool/interesting to look at with something sexy/attractive/appealing to look at. A 2 for 1 scenario.
2) It’s in a similar spot to horror movies. It’s so unlikely or impossible to happen in real life that there’s an audience for it.

Man, this is absolutely stunning, even better than the line art. It really amplifies Oola's beauty as well the power and menace of the rancor. Gorgeous. Definitely worth the wait and effort. Keep up the good work.
