Description
Here's the color version of the Micronauts pin-up I did for Dan Frazier, an amazing dude who travels to comic conventions all over the country and has one of the most spellbinding collections of original comic art I've ever seen. Dan has art from everyone, and when I say everyone, I MEAN EV-ER-Y-ONE! From the classics of the silver age to the latest and greatest, Dan has it all, including many from my hero, George Perez, who is good friends with Dan and is working to get this collection made into a book to benefit Heroes Initiative, a non-profit organization that raises money for artists without healthcare. Very cool stuff.I've done many drawings for Dan over the years, and since I know Dan has a fondness for 70's/early 80's characters, I decided to whip out two of my faves from one of my best loved comics, THE MICRONAUTS, with awesome art by Michael Golden. Bug and Acroyear were always my faves, and I hope I've done them justice. I also decided to go old school with this as well, so this entire page was inked with brush and ink except for the pole of Bug's rocket lance and Acroyear's sword blade. Phew, good workout for my brushes and steady hand.

This is 'tik' awesome!
Those first twelve issues were some of the best comics from my youth. Iβm glad to see others remember them as well. Golden was the best. What ever happened to him?

Golden went into "hiding" for a few years, but he's been back doing a ton of covers and art for all the major comic companies. I see him at most of the big cons I go to doing commission sketches and whatnot. He's one of my drawing heroes!

Thatβs great the hear. Iβll have to look into what titles he has worked on lately. He was definitely one of my early idols also.

Thanks. The first 12 issues of this series by Michael Golden STILL hold a place in my artistic heart!

Amen, brother amen. That comic sure had a lot of premium talent, for a toy based comic!
