Yeah this totally is beyond evil, sad, and dark! Why don't you make it so that she can still be cured and put in a glass container just like the scientists did. Then maybe make it so that way she can be cured with memories of Spike.
Or better yet, just like midnight Sparkle, her eyes became her normal eye color, and then, she fights the infection so sunset can inject a serum for her.
