Really interesting process. I would have guessed there was a lot more detail in your linework. Are you using layers much, out of interest?

Yeah, I rarely do a detailed lineart. I feel a bit more comfortable going straigth with values. I'm sure each approach has it's own pros and cons, so there's no "right" or "wrong" way.
It depends on the image wether I use a lot of layers or just a few of them. Some files have just 10-20 layers, others have 100-200 layers. For commercial work I tend to keep all major elements on the layers in case I'll get asked to make some changes and having the layers will save a lot of time. And sometimes the clients will ask to do everything on layers.
