these serptails were made for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome awareness month (may)! EDS is a collection of genetic connective tissue disorders which currently lack research and funding for their treatments. Both me and my friend Pyre have EDS which affects our lives every day! We made these designs to spread awareness & raise money for our own EDS aids + donate to other people with EDS.

Having EDS is really expensive! Because our bodies can't hold themselves together, we have to buy special equipment in order to feel more comfortable and be able to move around without hurting ourselves. I personally use braces and tape on my body, and the serptail Pyre drew (3) is wearing a brace as well. I hope to be able to buy crutches for myself, and I also would like a Body Braid and finger splints, if possible. If/after Pyre and I can buy our own disability aids, remaining profits will be donated to the Ehlers Danlos Society for research purposes www.ehlers-danlos.com/donating…

the zebra is the mascot of EDS because of the phrase "look for horses when you hear hoofbeats" which tells doctors to look for common diseases when they see symptoms. as a result, rare diseases, like EDS are under recognized and EDS patients do not receive adequate treatment.
