it would be interesting to meet you face-to-face.

SFR and MRTC bosses, face-to-face.

it would be epic-tastic. If for some reason I cannot make it, as I said, come on down the house some time, or meet me at one of my many places of steam-work.

quite so!
i'm putting my efforts into modeling the SFR In HO. it works for me, as i'm not mechanically inclined enough for live steam, as epic as it would be.

I plan to one day, when I have the time, model the MRTC is 2.5" scale with all alcohol burning live steam, similar to the apocryphal layout of Vic Shattock. This is after I accomplish all my other insane goals.

To give you the idea of the kind of initiative I am taking, I have recently hooked up with two what I am told are semi-dangerous Mafia men who are helping me rescue an 0-4-0ST as well as move the one ton horizontal that was just given to me. On the side, I am doing some model-railroad work for these guys which is earning me 20$ an hour and doing artwork for them which is making me a heck of alot more, so I can obtain a 5000 dollar 1" scale pacific that I previously restored for another man.

WOW. good luck with that 0-4-0ST.

my current goal is to one-day custom build the actual SFR engines i've designed, rather than working with the pre-existing material i have now.

DAT SINGLE....hard to inspect the joint bars when your locomotive is going over them at over 9000mph

Eddie-Sand In reply to PaxAeternum [2013-01-15 02:44:39 +0000 UTC]

But you don't get a POINT because you went over one at a bajillon-mph

Simply for being the first person in the history of ever to make fanart of Eisenstein's STRIKE is reason enough for this to be fav'd a thousand times over.

The fact that the locomotive crane has some sort of demented 0-6-0 driver set for a chassis is another reason.

But that bloody Single... heavens. Wasn't expecting that. I should have guessed that when you said "wooden coachbody cab" you weren't talking about a clerestory Lehigh Valley job. It's elegance reminds me of the Fairy Queen... or a showman's traction engine. The way that the outside cylinders/crossheads protrude through the front of the splasher casing is brilliant. The drive wheel is so huge compared to the engine that it almost looks like the engine is built around a four-wheel flatcar chassis. The modernish industrialish coal bunker behind the Victorian cab adds a refreshing touch of anachronistic design...

But I wonder... how does the engineer get in? (I'm guessing rear-facing geep doors. )

I AM FLY. I AM COOL. [link] (AND IIIII LOVE IT)

I know what you like, you pof you.

Crane is 2-4-0, not 0-6-0. JUST to be extra demented.

As for the single, it was basically built and then lowered ONTO the drivers, rods connected and that was that XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. Oh, and there really isnt a door, theres like a ladder on the other side to get over the walls....thats basically it. 8D

And yeah, the engine is deceptively smallish, the CT class, last time I checked my record, has like 9.9 foot drivers I think......

What a fine 2-2-2 loco! Is it a well tank or a back tank engine? I'm going to miss the three cylindered Connecticut class engines.

PaxAeternum In reply to SteamRailwayCompany [2013-01-15 01:39:12 +0000 UTC]

Ah they wont change that much.

The 2-2-2 is a split welltank with a back bunker, it is an inspection engine.
