Description
A commission for my wonderful friend, Double AShe requested an illustration of Laz Alonso (as Superman) being rescued by Gina Torres (as Wonder Woman). I had a lot of fun with this one!

And I continue to ask "Why not?" No reason. DC already has 2 versions of Superman that are black. Maybe Milestone comics should return with all black versions of the Justice League. Why not?

Well, that's perfect casting for both.
Seriously, Gina Torres is definitely in the toplist of actresses I would pick to play Wonder Woman.

If I recall correctly, there was an alternate Universe in DC where this semblance happened

Gina Torres would make a great Wonder Woman, but I can almost feel the white fanboy rage wash over America if that were to happen.

The rage would only be that her origins are ancient Greek and that means she would need to be Greek or it just wouldn't make sense. Just sayin.

I understand that but I also have a feeling that the odds of them actually hiring a Greek actress for this role are pretty slim. At least with Gina in the role we know that not only will she be able to pull off the costume but more importantly she has the acting skills needed for such an monumental role

I like Statik shock, and I think the X-Men have oodles of black mutants. I mean they're not all official out on every mission have their own book X-Men but they're there.

At this point in the game I want something more than "they're there". I'll admit that as of late I've been reading DC and very little Marvel so I'm not 100% on the oodles of black mutants in the X-Men, and to be honest the only ones that comes to my mind right now are Storm, Darwin, and Prodigy. And I don't consider Bishop black cause his ancestors are of Aborigine decent, not African.
And just to let you know the heroes' name is Static, Static Shock was just the name of his animated show.

"RISE FROM YOUR GRAVES!"
Back when i wrote this I knew what I wanted to say but wasn't literate enough to form the words.
So the main point of all of this was that you CAN have your cake and eat it too. Think of the possibilities of NEW heroes. The old guard get to keep their authenticity and intact back stories and the new guy get to have tailored stories and power sets to fit their vibe. There's a huge disconnect when you take a character everyone knows and loves then go, oh hey they're (insert racial, sexual descriptor here). People then look back on everything they've seen that hero in and it just feels....off. So yeah heroes that aren't white are welcome I'd just like it if they didn't steal someone else's identity to do so.
